Hello lovely families! πŸ§ͺ✨

Science Week has kicked off in the Kinder Room, and what a day of curiosity and discovery it's been!

We began with planning and planting parsley, talking together about what plants need to grow. The children scooped, moved and spread soil, sharing their own ideas about sunlight, water and wind as they worked.

From there, we explored colour and chemistry β€” watching "fireworks" bloom through shaving foam and water, and dancing colours swirl across milk. So many wide eyes and excited theories as the children observed, predicted and wondered "how is it doing that?"

We rounded things off with oobleck and coloured ice, giving little hands a chance to squeeze, touch and create through sensory exploration, before settling in together for a favourite story and retelling it with puppets on the wall.

A day full of questions, hands-on investigation and child-led wonder β€” we can't wait to see what the rest of Science Week brings! πŸ”¬πŸŒ±

Hello lovely families! πŸ”¬

It's Science Week, and our little scientists have been full of curiosity and wonder!

In the Toddler Room, bubbles took centre stage β€” floating, popping and drifting through the air. The children watched with delight, reaching out, pointing and calling out with excitement as they explored movement, light and cause and effect through this simple, joyful experience.

There's so much rich learning in these everyday moments of discovery β€” noticing, wondering and making sense of the world around them.

We can't wait to share more hands-on science exploration with you as the week continues! πŸ§ͺ✨

Hello lovely families! 🌈

Our Kinder children have had a wonderful week of creative, hands-on learning!

Colourful paper strips and pom-poms invited plenty of exploring β€” colours, textures and patterns coming together as the children made independent choices and strengthened their fine-motor skills through open-ended creating.

We also had fun getting to know letters and numbers together, with lots of confident voices calling out what they could see and find.

A sensory shaving-foam experience was a highlight, giving little fingers a soft, tactile surface to practise forming letters β€” a playful way to build pre-writing skills. We also revisited our number chart, breaking two-digit numbers into smaller parts to help build confidence.

It was lovely to see the children sharing ideas, celebrating their own achievements and cheering each other on. So much meaningful learning happens through play! 🌱✨

🌟 Kinder Room Learning Moments 🌟

Such a wonderful day of sharing, creativity, and hands-on learning in our Kinder room!

Show & Tell brought a strawberry and an apple to share with the group, sparking lovely conversations about why fruits are healthy and how they help our bodies grow strong β€” with everyone chiming in with their own healthy food ideas πŸ“πŸŽ

We then moved into a fun paper-cutting session, practising scissor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration. The children traced shapes and patterns from their cut-outs, turning simple paper into creative artwork β€” with lots of proud "look what I made!" moments along the way βœ‚οΈπŸŽ¨

Elsewhere, some friends enjoyed exploring Lego and puzzles, building, problem-solving, and using their imaginations through play 🧩

A lovely day of sharing, creating, and learning together! πŸ’•βœ¨

πŸŽπŸš‚ Healthy Food Choices, Choo-Choo Style! πŸš‚πŸŽ

As part of our Healthy Food and Healthy Habits focus, the children explored healthy and "sometimes" foods through a fun, hands-on sorting experience!

Gathered around a visual food chart, the children chatted about how fruits and veggies help our bodies grow, feel energised, and stay strong. Then came the fun part β€” forming a "choo-choo train" and taking turns choosing a food picture to sort into the happy or sad face box, thinking carefully about each choice along the way πŸš‚

There were some lovely insights shared: "Apple is healthy!", "Carrots make us strong," and "Cake is a sometimes food" β€” showing real understanding of balanced, healthy choices!

This playful sorting experience built confidence, turn-taking, decision-making, and communication skills, all while deepening the children's awareness of how food helps their growing bodies πŸ’ͺπŸ₯•

🎭 Bringing Stories to Life Through Puppets πŸ“–

During quiet time, the children gathered for an interactive storytelling experience of Little Red Riding Hood, complete with character puppets and a simple puppet theatre! A friendly frog puppet took on the role of storyteller, instantly capturing everyone's curiosity and attention.

As the story unfolded, the children watched closely, made predictions about what might happen next, and shared their own ideas about the characters and their feelings β€” building vocabulary and confidence in group discussion along the way 🐸✨

Puppets gave the children a wonderful way to connect with the story, spark their imaginations, and practise listening and taking turns as they shared their thoughts with the group.

This kind of storytelling nurtures communication, imagination, and a real sense of belonging as children explore emotions, events, and ideas together πŸ’›

Looking ahead, we'll continue exploring storytelling through puppets and dramatic play, with opportunities for children to create their own puppets and even build their own stories!

🌿 Sharing, Healthy Choices and Learning Together 🌿

What a wonderful day of connection and discovery! We began with an outdoor picnic for morning tea, enjoying fresh air, friendly chats, and practising sharing and kind manners together 🧺

Show and Tell brought a carrot and an orange, with both being the same colour sparking a fun discussion about orange fruits and veggies and why colourful foods are so good for us! Slices were generously shared, with one little friend explaining "carrots help us grow strong, and oranges have vitamins" πŸ₯•πŸŠ

The children then practised writing their names, proudly finding their labels and having a go at the letters β€” building early literacy skills and confidence along the way. In the Emotions Area, some friends explored feelings resources together, chatting about happy and sad feelings and practising calming strategies like deep breaths.

Lunch brought a fresh salad mix, with lots of chatter about crunchy lettuce, favourite veggies, and how healthy food gives us energy!

A day full of sharing, healthy choices, big feelings, and meaningful learning together πŸ’›

πŸ“πŸ… Building Confidence Through Healthy Food Conversations πŸ“πŸ…

Today's Show and Tell brought two healthy favourites to the group β€” strawberries and tomatoes! One little friend proudly shared why they chose them, explaining they're healthy, tasty, and help us grow big and strong πŸ’ͺ

Their peers listened attentively, asked questions, and joined in sharing their own ideas about healthy foods β€” exploring colours, tastes, and textures together while practising respectful listening and turn-taking. The learning continued into morning tea, where the group enjoyed the strawberries and tomatoes together over shared conversation.

This experience helped build confidence in speaking to the group, strengthened communication and language skills, and encouraged children to connect nutritious choices with looking after their bodies β€” all while building a lovely sense of belonging within the group 🌱

🧼 Washing the Germs Away 🌿

Our toddlers had a joyful morning exploring handwashing and healthy hygiene through hands-on sensory play! Using water, soap, sponges, and sensory gloves, they imaginatively washed away pretend "germs" while building healthy habits along the way 🫧

Alongside this, construction play with large blocks invited towers, teamwork, and lots of problem-solving as children explored balance and cooperation together.

Throughout, curiosity and confidence shone through as the children explored materials, chatted with friends, and worked things out side by side β€” strengthening fine and gross motor skills while learning to care for themselves and one another.

A wonderful morning of learning through play, healthy habits, and teamwork in our outdoor space! 🌱🧼✨

🎨 A Day of Creativity and Growing Independence 🎨

What a wonderful day of learning, creating, and building confidence!

We started with a group chat about "sometimes foods," with the children sharing their thoughts on enjoying special treats in moderation. This led into a fun ice cream craft β€” cutting cones, gluing on scrunched tissue paper scoops, and sprinkling colourful paper "toppings" on top 🍦 A lovely way to build fine motor skills, creativity, and scissor control!

We also practised self-help skills like putting on jackets and shoes, with so many children showing growing confidence and independence β€” some completing it all on their own!

The day continued with a shared drawing activity, full of chatting, idea-sharing, and creative expression, followed by more open-ended creating with colourful paper, where imaginations ran wild β€” from flowers and butterflies to rainbows and beyond πŸŒˆπŸ¦‹

A fantastic day full of creativity, confidence, and connection!
