Earlier this month, 9 members from OKM attended the Asia-Oceania Seminar and Shinsa in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, with two members joining Seminar A and 7 members joining Seminar B. We completed the training at the seminar alongside around 100 other participants from the Asia-Oceania region, including 16 members of other clubs from around Australia.

We hope all participants gained valuable insights from the seminar, and we look forward to our returning members sharing their insights with the club ❤️

Happy Four Years!!

Just recently, the club has reached its 4-year milestone. We started off with a small group of people practicing informally at an archery range around 2021. Then in 2022 we formally incorporated as a registered association with five members.

As soon as we started running introduction to Kyudo classes, our growth as a club skyrocketed. We are incredibly fortunate to receive a continuously high level of interest in and support of Kyudo from the public community here in Melbourne.

Our venue moved over these 4 years from an archery range, to a small multipurpose court, to a larger court, to a double court. Today we have 76 members, and a community that continues to grow not just in numbers but also in dedication, spirit, and support for one another.

It’s been incredible to see how far we’ve come: from a handful of people sharing an interest, to a strong and welcoming club built on respect, learning, and a shared passion for Kyudo.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far, whether you joined at the very beginning or just recently. We’re excited for what the future holds and look forward to continuing to grow together! 🎉

We are glad that the move to the new space has incredibly succesful for us so far and it has been lovely to see high attendance at recent sessions, trending upwards of 36 members each week.

Welcome to our new beginners!
After completion of our most recent Introduction to Kyudo course of 2026, we are now welcoming 13 new members to the club. Our new beginners will now continue building their skills through the Introduction Course Part II. This week we have covered measuring everyone up for uniform and equipment, and also held a club lunch for members new and old to catch up ❤️
It's amazing to have so many keen new faces around the dojo, thank you everyone for joining along on our Kyudo journey!

Welcome to our first Introduction to Kyudo Class of 2026!
With the larger space at Bundha Sports Centre, we now have the space to slightly increase the size of our introduction class intake.
Our introduction class runs for five sessions over 4 weeks and introduces beginners to Shaho Hassetsu, Taihai, and of course the safety and etiquette rules of Kyudo.
4 weeks, of course, is not enough to teach everything there is to do with Kyudo! So our main aim of the introduction class is to provide a foundation, and most importantly to teach the enjoyment of Kyudo.
We hope everyone is enjoying so far! ❤️

If you are interested in starting Kyudo, please check the link in our bio for more information.
