Bullying No Way!

Our Year 7 students have been exploring the importance of kindness, respect and creating a positive school community as part of Bullying No Way.

Following class discussions, students created their own slogans and logos to promote kindness and respect across HHS.

On Friday 21 August, students took their messages to the Quad, using chalk to share their positive reminders with the wider school community.

Stage 2 Food & Hospitality – Gratitude Luncheon

On Monday 17 August, Ms Maple’s Year 12 Food & Hospitality students hosted a special Gratitude Luncheon in the Piltarilla Training Restaurant.

Guests enjoyed an impressive four course Mediterranean dining experience while students showcased their skills in menu planning, food preparation, presentation, time management, teamwork, safety and hygiene.

Fantastic work by all our Stage 2 students, who demonstrated excellent culinary and hospitality skills. A huge thank you to our guests for joining us and supporting our students!

Building Connections Through Science! 🌱

Over the past four weeks, Heathfield High School has proudly welcomed Year 4 students from Mr Hean’s class at Stirling East Primary School to take part in an engaging science unit.

Led by Ms Moore and supported by our wonderful Year 7 student helpers, the program gave SEPS students the opportunity to expand their science knowledge, spark curiosity and develop new skills through hands on learning.

We’re thrilled that this initiative has not only supported the students’ learning but also strengthened the connection between our two schools.

Year 8 Science 🧪 Cyanotyping

Our a year 8 Science students have been investigating cyanotyping, a photochemical process that demonstrates how light can cause chemical reactions.

Students explored how a light sensitive chemical solution reacts when exposed to UV light.

A practical investigation into chemical reactions, light energy and the effects of UV radiation.

A Historic Championship Win! 🏆

A huge congratulations to our Year 11–12 Open Boys Football Team, who yesterday won the School Sport SA Division 2 Championship! 🏆

This victory marks a first in the history of our senior boys football program. After coming so close in the past, today’s team has finally brought home the championship!

Congratulations to all the players, coaches and everyone who has supported the team along the way. What an achievement!

National Science Week | Day 1 – Year 7 Science

To celebrate National Science Week, we’re showcasing some of the exciting learning happening across each year level!

Day 1: Our Place in Space 🌎🌙

Our Year 7 students have been exploring Earth, the Moon and our place in space, including the fascinating phases of the Moon.

And what better way to model the Moon’s cycles than with an Oreo Moon Cycle!

A fun, hands-on activity that brought science to life while helping students understand how the Moon appears to change throughout its cycle.

It’s National Science Week! Throughout the week, our Science Faculty will be celebrating the wonder of science with a range of hands-on workshops and exciting experiments in B1.01 during break 1.

Students will have the opportunity to get involved, explore scientific concepts and discover the fun behind science through practical activities and experiments.

Year 10 Entrepreneurial Students Explore Gumeracha

On Wednesday 12 August, our two Year 10 Entrepreneurial classes visited Gumeracha and the Big Rocking Horse as part of their Business Innovation course.

Students heard from business owner Mell Penno, who shared valuable insights into the changes she has made since taking over the business, the costs and challenges involved in running a major tourist attraction, her vision for the future and ideas for making Gumeracha more tourist-friendly.

Our students asked thoughtful and probing questions as they worked to identify the root problems facing the business and explore potential opportunities within the Big Rocking Horse’s business model, as well as opportunities across the wider township.

The students represented Heathfield High School well throughout the visit and even managed to make a few new friends with the animals at the wildlife park!
