On Friday night, the RJCC team had the absolute pleasure of firing up the BBQ in Main Street Healesville for Nocturne, raising funds for the wonderful team at HICCI.

We are so excited to share that we raised an amazing $850.00, with every dollar raised going directly to HICCI.

It was such a fantastic event to be part of and a beautiful reminder of just how special our community is. Throughout the evening we had the chance to catch up with so many people - our current RJCC families, families who have been part of our centre in years gone by, and plenty of other familiar and new faces from around the community.

Seeing Main Street come alive, local businesses open their doors and our community come together on a winter evening was pretty special. We absolutely loved being part of it. 🥰

A huge thank you to Healesville Traders for organising such a wonderful event and giving us the opportunity to be involved.

Thank you also to My Little Kitchen for supporting us on the night and giving our little sausage-sizzle operation a home!

And a big shout-out to Mainstreet Quality Butchers & Smokehouse, where we purchased all of our sausages for the evening, they certainly went down a treat!

Finally, thank you to every single person who stopped by, bought a sausage or drink, had a chat, said hello or simply helped make the evening what it was.

We are incredibly proud to be part of the Healesville community, and even prouder that a fun night together has helped us raise $850.00 for HICCI and the important work they do supporting people in our local community.

Thank you, Healesville! ❤️🌭✨

Today, our children enjoyed a very special visit from James, one of our RJCC family members and a local ambulance driver.

The children had the opportunity to learn more about the important role paramedics play in our community, listen to stories, explore some of the equipment used to help people, and practise caring for a special teddy by applying bandages.

A highlight of the visit was stepping outside to explore the ambulance. The children were full of curiosity as they looked inside, asked questions and discovered more about how emergency services support and care for others.

Experiences such as this help children build connections with their local community, develop an understanding of community helpers and feel more familiar and comfortable with emergency services.

A very big thank you to James for taking the time to share this engaging and meaningful experience with our children. We are so grateful to have families who contribute their knowledge, skills and time to our learning community.

This week, our children celebrated NAIDOC Week by taking part in a variety of inclusive and meaningful experiences that recognised and celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. From creating artwork and designing T-shirts using Aboriginal symbol stamps to exploring stories, music, and cultural activities, the children learned through play, creativity, and connection. We are proud to foster an inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to learn about, respect, and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and achievements of Australia's First Nations peoples

Today our Warinj children enjoyed a very special community excursion as they walked to HICCI to deliver the generous donations kindly contributed by our wonderful RJCC families.

As a community-based, not-for-profit centre, we believe in the importance of fostering kindness, empathy and a sense of belonging from an early age. Supporting local organisations like HICCI helps our children see that even small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The visit also provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore the space, learn about the important role HICCI plays within our local community, and see firsthand where their donations would be going. Experiences like these help children develop an understanding of compassion, community responsibility and the value of helping others.

A huge thank you to all of our families for your incredible generosity. Together, we’re helping to build a caring and connected community, one small act of kindness at a time.

This week, our learning spaces have been transformed into exciting insect investigations as we celebrate Insect Week!

Across the centre, children are exploring books, natural materials, and a variety of insects and bugs through play based learning and discovery. These experiences encourage children to observe closely, ask questions, share their ideas, and develop an appreciation for the tiny creatures that play such an important role in our environment.

We love seeing the wonder and curiosity that emerges when children are given opportunities to explore the natural world around them.

What insect do you think is the most fascinating?

We are delighted to have provided every member of our team with a pair of Merry People boots, helping our educators stay warm, dry and comfortable during Bush Kinder, outdoor learning and those wonderfully wet and muddy days at RJCC.

Supporting our educators means ensuring they have the right equipment to confidently embrace outdoor play alongside the children, whatever the weather may bring.

A heartfelt thank you to Merry People for their generous support of our community-based, not-for-profit children’s centre. Their kindness has helped us make this possible for our entire team, and we are incredibly grateful.

Here’s to many more puddle jumps, muddy adventures and meaningful learning experiences outdoors! 💛🌱

At Robyn Jane Children’s Centre, we believe some of the best learning happens through play. Invitations like this sensory exploration encourage children to investigate, create, problem-solve and engage their senses in a calm, welcoming environment.

Every day is filled with opportunities for wonder, curiosity and meaningful learning as children explore at their own pace.

During National Reconciliation Week, our Walert room engaged in a beautiful collaborative art experience with educator Misty and the children in our youngest room.

Using shades of blue and purple, the children explored paint through their hands, fingers and a range of sensory movements. Each child contributed their own painted piece and handprint, which were then joined together to create a flowing river display.

This experience supported the children to explore colour, texture, creativity and connection, while also beginning to build an early sense of belonging, togetherness and respect.

At RJCC, we continue to acknowledge and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories, and we are proud to create opportunities for children to learn about respect, inclusion and reconciliation from the very beginning.

đź’› Community Donation Drive đź’›

At Robyn Jane Children’s Centre, we believe strong communities are built when we look after one another.

Over the coming weeks, we are collecting donations for HICCI (Healesville Interchurch Community Care Inc) — a local organisation supporting individuals and families across our community through practical assistance, emergency relief, food support and community programs.

After speaking directly with HICCI, they shared that they are currently in particular need of:

🪥 Toothbrushes
🦷 Toothpaste
🧴 Hand wash
🧼 Toiletries and personal care items
🥫 Non-perishable food items

If you would like to contribute, donations can be dropped off directly to Robyn Jane Children’s Centre during opening hours.

We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate right now, and that’s okay too. Sharing this post, spreading awareness, or simply supporting one another within our community also makes a difference.

Together, we can help support local people when they need it most.
