TOPshelf - Gippsland TOPshelf will guide you through a program to make your Soul Goal a reality, while teaching you methods to better support yourself and your life.

TOPshelf is a non-traditional entrepreneurship for creatives, minorities, and those who want to make their passion project a reality.TOPshelf helps participants get their Soul Goal from idea to realisation! TOPshelf is a 12 week program facilitated by PollyannaR that arms creative beasts with a mean set of tools, sweet hookups to local resources, networking and grant opportunities, employment path

ways, and mentorship. Guest facilitators will include a Gunaikurnai artist, an artist with a disability, and a mental health professional. Each week, participants will meet in a community space for a 1 hour masterclass, followed by 2 hours to put that information into action with PollyannaR’s support and mentorship. Participants will work through a badge system which has been built through PollyannaR’s lived experience as an artist, creating some of the world’s longest photographs. Participants will receive a free 12 month subscription to the Soul Goal app and all online resources.

Creatives and creative communities from regions significantly impacted by the June 2021 Storms can now apply for up to $1,500 through the Creative Recovery Small Grants Program: 2021 Storms.

This program is delivered by Regional Arts Victoria and supported by the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust

Eligible Local Government regions*: Bass Coast, Baw Baw, Cardinia, Hepburn, La Trobe, Macedon Ranges, Moorabool, Murrindindi, South Gippsland, Wellington, and Yarra Ranges.

*Please note, an applicants postcode must reflect their residence in one of the above local government areas.

As the Regional Arts Grant funding for Found Sounds Gippsland comes to a close today, I have been reflecting on some of the outcomes for the project.

Over the last 2 years the project has generated a database of 20 albums on BandCamp, comprising 94 tracks or 10 hrs and 37 minutes of mixed and edited field recordings from across Gippsland.

The majority of these field recordings have been made free to the public and have been used by community members, artists and students in digital media, film, art, and music projects. As well as serving as a source of relaxation, education and enjoyment for listeners in Gippsland, across Australia and overseas.

I hoped to record in a lot more areas across Gippsland however COVID restrictions wreaked havoc on these plans...

Nevertheless, moving forward with the project I am happy to announce there will be more workshops coming up later this year.

I will also continue to upload and record sounds across the Gippsland area, in the hope of amassing a wealth of sounds that both serve as a historical document of time and place, but as content that can be used by other artists to create new works.

It has been an exciting project to be part of and I am proud to say the Found Sound Gippsland Database is one of the biggest online field recording collections in Victoria and the only one specifically documenting the sounds of Gippsland.
