What a beautiful day celebrating our love for stories! Wandering through the parade, our children stepped into the shoes of the characters that have captured their hearts and imaginations.

Can you glimpse a beloved character dancing through the crowd? 🌿✨

The Fibonacci number sequence appears throughout the natural world — in shells, flowers, leaves, and the branching patterns of trees. 🌿

These tree branches reveal the beauty of exponential growth: each branch creating the possibility for many more, in a pattern that is both ordered and alive.

Nature is not random. It grows through rhythm, relationship and form. Class 5/6 this past week.

The bigger picture of Steiner education

At Blue Mountains Steiner, our school is centred on the primary years — but we're also part of a much bigger educational tradition.

This Thursday evening, Tim Dunn (PhD) presents the second part of his free online Parent Education talk, exploring the Upper School curriculum and the ways Steiner pedagogy continues to support young people as they grow: developing their own thinking, knowing who they are, finding their place in the world, and staying curious and enthusiastic.

Tim has spent much of his career exploring the meeting point between science, education and Waldorf pedagogy. After 20 years teaching in the Upper School at Samford Valley Steiner School, he now works as a consultant, teacher trainer and mentor in Australia and overseas.

It’s a fascinating opportunity to look beyond the primary years and understand more about the educational thinking that underpins Steiner education as a whole.

Rainy days outside can't damp the magic inside! 🌧️ While King Winter ruled the weather yesterday, our cosy playgroup table was already whispering secrets of Spring. ❄️🌱

Swipe through to see our day in 4 snaps:

King Winter: Still holding court while the rain poured down outside. ❄️👑
Signs of Spring: Warmer, brighter days are on their way. 🌸✨
Wombat Dough: A little creature brought to life as a bread wombat (looks like a wombat to us!). 🦦🌾
The Playgroup Circle: Big and small hands gathered together around the wooden table for cosy, rainy-day connection. 🪵💛

The gloom couldn't stop our little explorers from creating! 🌦️🎨

Thinking about Steiner education, but wondering whether it actually prepares your child for the ‘real world’?

It’s one of the questions we hear most often from families considering a different path.

At Blue Mountains Steiner School, we believe preparing children for life means far more than handing them information to memorise. It means helping them become adaptable, curious, resilient, and deeply capable individuals who know who they are and how to navigate the world with confidence.

Have a question about how Steiner education works in practice? Leave it in the comments below or send us a DM — no question is too small.

Note for primary parents: While the talk explores the 12–16 transition, getting a head start now offers valuable tools for navigating the upcoming years with confidence.

Discover what’s really happening during these developmental leaps and how to maintain a relationship of trust and connection.

Sunshine, fresh air and meaningful work — such a beautiful combination. ☀️🌱

Our Kindergarten children have been busy this week making bushwalking sticks, planting peas and beans for spring, and working together to construct a bean teepee trellis.

These everyday experiences invite children to work with their hands, care for the garden, solve problems together and enjoy the changing seasons — one of the many ways learning unfolds in our Kindergarten.
