The Young CA’s NSW and TOM People are hosting the fourth Rising Leaders panel discussion & networking event on Wednesday, 27 May, at 33 Erskine Street (CA HQ).

In partnership with the TOM People, senior finance leaders from Woolworths and CIMIC will share practical insights on the key decisions and experiences that have shaped their careers into leadership roles.

Werner Hettasch: Head of External Reporting at Woolworths, having previously held GM and FC roles at Dexus

Carla Scodeller: General Manager, Finance at CIMIC Group with experience across group reporting, special projects and advisory

The session is designed for high-potential and emerging leaders within finance teams and aspiring finance professionals, particularly those looking to broaden their commercial capability and leadership trajectory. It’s also a good opportunity for them to build their professional network.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Industry Insights Event 💙💙

Our members had the chance to connect with industry professionals brought by Chartered Accountants professionals, asking meaningful questions and learning from their career journeys in an intimate round‑table setting. It was an incredible opportunity for students to gain real‑world insights directly from industry leaders.

We’re proud to have had the opportunity to showcase our members’ incredible talent and hard work at the QBE x UTSCT Internal Case Competition! 💙💙

Over April, teams within UTSCT competed for a $1,000 prize from who asked us to: Identify the main disruptors in the Australian insurance industry and how to be proactive in dealing with them.

A massive congratulations to our winning teams:
🏆 BLOK Consulting — First Place, with a strategy tackling insurance disintermediation through a Xero partnership and climate risk via co‑invested prevention projects with the Australian government.

🥈 Iris Consulting — Second Place, with their solution C.A.R.E - optimising climate-related payouts and strengthening SME cyber resilience.

A huge thank you to for collaborating with us to organise and craft an engaging case for UTSCT. We’re grateful for your commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences for our students.
