What an inspiring day at UTS for our Future Teachers in Action event.
On 19th June, UTS welcomed 114 Future Teachers Club students from Macquarie Fields High School, Elizabeth Macarthur High School, Oran Park High School, Ingleburn High School, Sir Joseph Banks High School, St Marys Senior High School, Mount Annan High School, Glenwood High School, Liverpool Boys High School, and Sydney Secondary College, alongside teacher education staff, school teachers and UTS preservice teachers.
Designed to give aspiring educators an authentic insight into the teaching profession, the day included:
🔹 Interactive microteaching activities
🔹 Demonstration lessons from UTS teacher educators
🔹 Interview simulations, with students taking on the roles of principal and job applicant
🔹 Conversations with current preservice teachers and experienced educators about the realities and rewards of teaching
The energy, enthusiasm and curiosity shown throughout the day was remarkable. It was wonderful to see so many young people exploring their potential futures in education and engaging so thoughtfully with the profession.
Feedback from both participating teachers and UTS preservice teachers highlighted the value of creating opportunities for students to experience teaching firsthand and connect with those already on the pathway.
A huge thank you to our partner schools, participating teachers, UTS colleagues and preservice teachers whose enthusiasm and commitment made the day such a success.
