Introduction to Australian Secondary Education

Under normal circumstances, students can only study in Australian high schools after completing junior high school education. The Australian government requires that the duration of study in Australian high schools must exceed 16 months. Therefore, direct entry into the 12th grade is not allowed. At the same time, admission to Australian high schools also has certain requirements for the age of students. For example, in the 12th grade, students cannot exceed 20 years old, the 11th grade cannot exceed 19 years old, and the 10th grade cannot exceed 18 years old. Generally speaking, if you graduate from the third year, you can enter the 10th grade in Australia. If you have finished high school or high school, you can enter the 11th grade.



Australia ’s primary and secondary schools are 12 years old. Grades 1 to 6 are primary schools. Grades 7 to 9 are equivalent to Chinese junior high schools and grades 10 to 12 are equivalent to high schools. Year 12 is very important. Applicant basic conditions:

Australian high schools do not allow skipping. For example, when a student goes to Australia to graduate from junior high school, then he cannot read the 11th grade of Australia; Australian high school allows reverse study. However, the time limit for reading backwards shall not exceed one and a half years (calculated based on the time enrolled in the main course).

English requirements:

If the applicant is younger than 16 years old, IELTS can be exempted naturally; if the applicant is over 16 years old, IELTS exemption can be applied. Guardian arrangement:

Applicants under the age of 18 need to arrange a guardian in Australia. Generally, when applying for a school, it is necessary to decide who will be the guardian. Parents can choose to let the school or the education bureau arrange guardians. If the parents have designated guardians in Australia, they must apply in advance and be reviewed. A qualified guardian must be at least 21 years of age, and may be a brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, uncle or aunt, or stepfather and stepmother of a student who has permanent residency in the area and has no criminal proof.
