Lest we forget

Today on Vietnam Veterans’ Day, we recognise the invaluable contributions of those who served and sacrificed during Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War.

This year, we commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. Fought in 1966 between Australian and New Zealand forces, and the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops.

The Battle of Long Tan was one of the most significant engagements for Australian service personnel of the Vietnam War.

The men of D Company, 6 RAR and a New Zealand artillery team were heavily outnumbered by the Viet Cong but still prevailed against the odds. Victory came at a terrible cost, with 18 soldiers killed in action, and another 24 wounded, one of whom died nine days later. The battle was a defining action of the war, and its anniversary now marks the day when all those who served and sacrificed for Australia in Vietnam are honoured.

Join us in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognising the veterans who continue to serve their communities with pride and dedication.

On Tuesday we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, a special day that honours the strength, resilience, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

Held annually on 4 August since 1988, this day reminds us of the importance of ensuring every child is connected to their culture, community, and identity. By listening to and learning from our children, we help create a future where they can thrive with pride and confidence.

Today, we celebrate the voices, stories, and dreams of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and recognise that they are our future leaders.

📚Storytelling through props📚

Our pre-kindy children have been using a variety of props alongside books to deepen their understanding of stories and spark their imaginations.

By acting out characters, retelling events, and exploring story themes through hands-on materials, children are building their language, comprehension, confidence, and creativity!

In our kindergarten room, the children have been engaged in the Henny Penny Hatching Program 🐣

Over the pas few weeks the children have eagerly observed as eggs begin to hatch and baby chicks grow. Through this experience they begin developing an understanding of life cycles, responsibility, and the importance of caring for living things.

The excitement, curiosity, and thoughtful conversations that have emerged as the children observe the changes each day have been truly wonderful. Experiences like these provide meaningful opportunities for children to ask questions, make predictions, and connect with the natural world.
