Paint-out Sunday 30 August. All welcome.

Join us for our August Last Sunday of the Month En Plein Air session at the north end of the West Gate Tunnel exit ramps in Footscray.

This month’s location is a great one for urban sketching and painting, with dramatic flyovers, underpasses and Melbourne’s newest infrastructure project, plus views towards Docklands and the city.

There are also plenty of quieter subjects along the Maribyrnong River and the new wetlands nearby — so there’s something for everyone.

Meet: Corner Parker St & Maribyrnong St, Footscray
11am–2pm
Show & tell: 2pm
Optional coffee/lunch afterwards at Hop Nation Brewery

The forecast is looking cool but dry, and there is some cover available if needed. Cafés and toilets are also close by.

Getting there: Street parking is available nearby, and the location is about a 15-minute walk from Footscray and Seddon stations. Seniors can travel free on PTV trains on weekends.

Come along, set up your easel or sketchbook, and enjoy a few hours drawing and painting outdoors with fellow HAS artists.

See you Sunday!

Such a fun experience!

I’ve enjoyed Portrait Artist of the Year (PAOTY) since watching UK season 1 years ago, so was pretty star-struck - and totally surprised - when they invited me to join this year’s competition.

My immediate reaction: it’s a once in a lifetime experience, no way will I win, so don’t stress, just enjoy. Glad I did. Definitely recommend the experience to anyone thinking of applying next year!
