Melbourne Sustainability Walking Tour
Our Year 5/6 students enjoyed an engaging and hands-on Melbourne Sustainability Walking Tour, exploring how our city is working towards a more sustainable future.

Students discovered a range of current practices, including rain gardens, solar-powered bins, rooftop bees, sustainable building design, and the use of plants such as Lomandra, pigface and flax lilies to create greener, cooler spaces.

Students also received a miniature figure symbolising themselves and the small but important part each of us can play in creating positive environmental change. The experience was a wonderful way to bring our classroom learning about sustainability to life.

Ganesha Chaturthi in Year 1 Philosophy ✨🐘
This week, our Year 1 students made little Ganeshas as a way to learn about, reflect on, and celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi; Ganesha’s birthday.

Many know Ganesha as the remover of obstacles, but we also explored the idea that Ganesha can be the placer of obstacles; offering us challenges that help us discover our potential, build resilience, and grow stronger.

We then looked at Ganesha through the lens of seva; service. We talked about how his features can remind us of the ways we can serve others:

His large ears remind us to listen deeply, to really hear what others need.

His eyes remind us to look carefully and notice when someone may need our help, even when they don't ask.

His broken tusk reminds us of sacrifice, that sometimes being of service means giving something of ourselves for the greater good.

Most importantly, we reflected on how we can practise service in our own lives: by helping the people we love, caring for our community, and perhaps even finding ways to be of service to those who challenge us.

Because sometimes the greatest opportunities for growth come through the people and situations that test us.

☀️ What a gorgeous day for our Erasmus Athletics Carnival!

Our students had a wonderful day of running, jumping, cheering, and trying their very best. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, and encouragement as students supported one another and celebrated their achievements.

A wonderful author visit at Erasmus Primary School!

We were delighted to welcome award-winning author and illustrator Zeno Sworder to Erasmus Primary. Our students thoroughly enjoyed his engaging sessions, hearing about the inspiration behind his stories and discovering more about the creative process of writing and illustrating books.

There was plenty of curiosity, laughter and thoughtful discussion throughout the day. A very special experience for our young readers and writers, and a lovely way to celebrate our love of books during Book Week!

🎨 Erasmus Primary School Art Show 2026 🎨

Our Art Show last week was an incredible experience and a wonderful celebration of creativity! It was fantastic to see our school community come together and enjoy the amazing artwork created by our talented students. Every display showcased imagination, skill, and individuality, with so many different styles, techniques, and creative ideas on show.

A special thank you to Ms Anjalee Tickner and everyone whose time, energy, and support helped make the Art Show such a success. We are incredibly grateful to all the students, families, friends, and community members who attended and celebrated our young artists. Your support made the event truly memorable and helped foster confidence, creativity, and a love of learning through the arts. 💛🎨

A family recently shared a heart warming reflection about a conversation at home following a school discussion on kindness.

During the conversation, their child shared:
"When you do kind things for other people, you feel really happy because you did something kind and the other person feels happy too."

It was a simple yet powerful insight that highlighted how deeply children can understand and embrace the values being explored in their learning.

Moments like these remind us of the importance of nurturing not only academic growth, but also kindness, empathy, and thoughtful citizenship in our students.

The family member concluded by saying "One of the many examples that reinforced that we had made the right decision in choosing Erasmus."

Our Year 5 and 6 students transformed into natural philosophers as they explored questions, conducted investigations, and shared their findings at the Science Fair. We were proud to see their curiosity, creativity, and excellent scientific thinking as they confidently presented their work.

What a wonderful morning at our Prep Expo!
It was fantastic to welcome both incoming and prospective families to Erasmus and see so many new connections being made within our school community.

Our future 2027 Prep students had the opportunity to meet one another, explore the learning environment, and experience a glimpse of daily life at Erasmus, while families connected with staff and discovered our beautiful facilities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a warm, engaging, and memorable introduction to the Erasmus community. We can't wait to welcome our Prep 2027 families back for future exciting events still to come! 💙📚🌿
