Join Virginia alongside renowned master percussionist Nasser Masri for an immersive workshop exploring the dynamic relationship between live percussion and Egyptian dance.

More than simply learning choreography, this workshop is a journey into the language of the drum. Through a carefully crafted original drum solo, you’ll discover how rhythm shapes movement, emotion and performance. Each section introduces a traditional rhythm, exploring its character, energy and cultural essence while developing the technique and musical understanding needed to embody it authentically.

Rooted in the rich rhythmic traditions of Egypt, the composition also features exciting interjections of Iraqi and Khaleeji rhythms, offering dancers a broader appreciation of the Middle Eastern rhythmic landscape and the unique flavour each tradition brings to the music and movement.

Technique, musicality and rhythm studies are seamlessly woven together, culminating in a powerful performance piece that celebrates the strength, confidence and unmistakable presence of Oriental dance.
