Sharp Airlines is looking to hire a part-time Operations Manager, with a full-time position likely available for the right candidate.

We are a dynamic regional airline operating in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania with RPT, charter, freight, and FIFO contracts. We currently operate a fleet of sixteen SA227 Metroliner aircraft and have a flight crew of over 30 pilots.

The main duties and responsibilities for the operations department are as follows:

• Design, implementation, and monitoring of flight schedules.
• Coordination and scheduling of maintenance with airworthiness and engineering departments.
• Ongoing management of pilot rostering.
• Maintenance and upkeep of flight duty of all flight crew.
• Booking of accommodation and deadhead travel for crew.
• Management of on-time performance, delays, and service disruptions.
• Client correspondence.

This job is unique and highly sought after for its exposure to all airline departments including flight crew, safety, executive, engineering, airworthiness, reservations, ground handling and airports.

This role will place successful applicants in direct contact with a diverse aviation environment. There is also the opportunity for expanded responsibilities across areas such as charter quoting, on-time-performance reporting and crew utilisation reporting.

All applicants must have the right to work in Australia and be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identity (ASIC) Card. Competency with the Microsoft Office suite is desirable. For operational software, applicants will require their own Windows device.

Last week we kicked off our event schedule for 2023 with an airside access visit to Melbourne Airport, where we got to see different aircraft along with what ground equipment is needed to help turn around a flight with some operations trivia to pair courtesy of our tour guide Shaun, who is also a sessional lecturer at Swinburne teaching aviation students in Airline Operations Management.

We extend a big thanks to Melbourne and Shaun for making this happen!

What a start to Semester 1! Orientation is nearly over and with classes starting next week, what better time to introduce our 2023 Committee!

We’ll be on campus next Wednesday for Clubs Day, and you can also find us at the Swinburne stall at the Avalon Airshow on Sat 4th March - come and say hi!!
