We are all so looking forward to Aiki-Centre Yudansha gradings and promotions finally happening tomorrow morning (Saturday). All the best to everyone participating.
Please note: Access to and parking in Lynch St might be a real problem from tomorrow and over the next two weeks as Glenferrie Rd is closed for Tram works and the local construction workers that take all the parking. Aiki-Centre is open again!
The Aiki-kids and adults have done away with the zoom training and are happily taking ukemi on the real mat; and the boxers have dusted off their gloves and are back on the speed-balls and bag, although push-ups are proving to be a bit of a struggle.
In accordance with the Aiki-Centre CovidSafe Plan and public health orders with routine cleaning protocols, check-in with the Services Victoria QR code and confirming Covid-19 vaccination for 12yrs + to enter and train at Aiki-Centre. As Aikido and boxing requires close practice it is still necessary to wear a mask during training. The mask can be removed if out of breath and puffing or just need a break/breather.
Some pics of the journey through the recent lockdown and back to the dojo. Thank you again to all the Aiki-Centre members for your ongoing support.

As you are no doubt aware we need to lockdown again. The dojo is now closed until we are permitted to reopen. Zoom Aiki classes for kids and adults will recommence this Saturday 7th August.

Following the re-introduction of some covid-19 restrictions from 6pm today, we will be required to wear masks again indoors including while training. We will follow the same practices as previously ie. you can remove the mask if 'out of breath or puffing'.
Aiki-Centre is closed until level 4 restrictions are lifted. Look forward to Aikido and Boxing training resuming from Thursday 17th February all going well. Stay positive, try some solo practice and take a moment to breathe.
Dear Aiki-Centre Community and friends
As you would be aware it is now a requirement for indoor sport facilities and gyms such as Aiki-Centre to close as of Monday 23 March. All Aikido, Kobudo, self defence and Boxing training will not resume until permitted to do so and the Covid-19 crisis is no longer a threat.
I am unsure how the future will unfold, and it is likely to be a significant length of time, perhaps up to six months before we can be back and training again. I am so very grateful for the many kind messages and continued support.
I will keep you updated along the way through direct letters to members and here on facebook.
Again, let’s stay positive, creative and most importantly well and healthy.
Thank you
Catherine Sensei and Aiki-Centre Yudansha
Hello and Aiki-Centre update.
As expected, adult Aikido, Kobudo and Boxing training will be modified to accommodate Covid-19 precautions.
Myself, and senior Yudansha recently discussed the way forward with respect to training which will now be absolutely no contact.
Our usual practice will be replaced with an emphasis on solo and Aiki weapons kata based training incorporating Kobudo principles. Strictly maintaining 'social distancing’ requirements, including in the change rooms and other areas of the dojo. We may also take the opportunity to meet at the nearby park and practice outdoors.
Boxing sessions will be solo and equipment only based workouts using speed ball, floor to ceiling and heavy bag in small groups and personal training.
Of course the upcoming Aikido grading is also on hold. It will be a welcomed and wonderful way to celebrate returning to Aikido training when some degree of normality and wellness returns to our lives.
Take care and stay well and healthy.
Catherine Sensei
Latest update regarding Aiki-Kids classes at Aiki-Centre. I have determined that despite schools remaining open, it is not prudent for Aiki-Centre to conduct the junior and intermediate Aikido classes.
Aiki-Kids classes are now suspended and will recommence on Monday 27th April 2020. If circumstances change then this date will be revised.
I am very grateful for the ongoing support and determination by many to see our way through this and maintain the dojo.
Let’s stay positive, creative and most importantly healthy. Thank you!

We are all concerned regarding Coronavirus and the impact on our everyday activities including participation in activities like Aikido, boxing and other fitness activities.
Our priority is to maintain our wellbeing and stay healthy.
Aiki-Centre will remain open unless advice from government and industry associations require that Aiki-Centre must close.
Please refer to the attached information which is at the entry to Aiki-Centre. It is imperative that we all follow these protocols to reduce risk and still be able to maintain some level of activity.
It is also possible to modify our training to reduce contact.
We will keep you updated on our way forward over the next few months. Lets stay positive, creative and most importantly healthy.
