π¨ COVID-19 UPDATE π¨
We have all done an incredible job at containing the virus and avoiding the types of numbers we have seen across the border.
At 120 cases today and high case numbers over the past few days we will need to keep in place strict settings to protect our healthcare system and all Victorians.
Based on advice of the CHO most of the current restrictions will apply until 23 September, around the time 70% of Victorians have had their first dose.
π The five reasons to leave your home will remain.
π From 11:59 Thursday 2 September the following changes will be made:
π©βπ§βπ§ PLAYGROUNDS OPEN - under 12 only with one parent/carer. Please use QR sign-in.
π‘ IN-HOME CARE - expanded to school aged children but only if both parents are authorised workers, including babysitters.
π When we get to a 70% first dose vax rate, there will be more easing of restrictions, including:
πΊ 5km radius for shopping and exercise will be expanded to 10km.
π Exercise allowed for up to 3 hrs a day.
ποΈββοΈ Outdoor personal training allowed with 2 people plus traininer.
π Outdoor gyms can reopen.
πΉ Skateparks reopen.
SCHOOLS:
βοΈSchools will not return to face-to-face classes for Term 3.
β
To ensure our senior students sitting year 12 exams have certainty and are ready for exams, from Tuesday 7 September until Friday 17 September we will put in place a priority vaccination program for students, teachers and examiners at state-run clinics. Bookings open from Monday 6th of September.
β
The G*T will be pushed out to 5 October. Final VCE examinations remain on schedule for the period 4 October β 17 November 2021.

You all know what this strain means.
You've seen how rapidly spread like this occurs.
And you understand as well as any expert what we have to do now.
From 8:00pm tonight, Victoria will enter a state-wide lockdown for seven days.
There are only five reasons to leave home: getting the food and the supplies, exercising for up to two hours, care or caregiving, authorised work or education if you can't do it from home, or to get vaccinated.
Shopping and exercise must be done within 5km of your home or the nearest location.
Face masks will remain mandatory indoors (not at home) and outdoors unless an exception applies β this includes all workplaces and secondary schools.
Private gatherings are not permitted. Public gatherings are not permitted. Exercise is limited to two people.
Childcare and Early Childhood Care will remain open. Schools will close β except for vulnerable children, and the children of authorised workers who can learn on site.
And with a positive wastewater detection in regional Victoria, and the potential that this virus is spreading further than Melbourne - restrictions will apply state-wide to keep regional Victoria safe.
I know this is frustrating, and I understand that everyone is over it - I am too.
But the reality is that not enough people are vaccinated.
And locking down is the only option we have to stop this spreading.
It's the only card we can play to save Victorian lives.
We all know what we have to do - and we will beat this once again.
