This Friday - Online Symposium with Reggio Children & REAIE, with speakers from Reggio Emilia | OPENS JUNE 19💚

What does it mean to educate children about peace?
Drawing on the experience of Reggio Emilia's municipal infant-toddler centers and preschools, we will reflect together on how schools can be places where peace education isn't just a subject of study or a laboratory for "special experiences," but a daily, transversal ethic.

A unique opportunity to engage for 6 weeks with ideas on children’s rights, belonging, and education for peace - before the content release in just two days.

What’s included:
✨ 3 sessions available with 6 weeks of flexible access
✨ Learn at your own pace, in your own time
✨ Submit questions for consideration in the live interactive session on 27 July
✨ Hear directly from Italian educators in Reggio Emilia
✨ Reimagine practice as creating spaces of belonging, where diversity is valued, difference is welcomed, and every child’s story is held with care

As educators we must ask ourselves what democratic culture, what democracy, our children and young people live, practice, and breathe within the school: what is the ethic that permeates and shapes the daily relationships and teaching in our schools?

Through experiences conducted and documented in Reggio Emilia's municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools, we will offer reflections and share experiences of building a democratic culture and peace education. We will explore how schools can be places where peace education and a democratic culture are fostered.

✨ SAVE THE DATE | REAIE Conference 2027 ✨

Following the incredible participation, dialogue, and learning shared at the 2025 REAIE Conference, we're excited to gather again for REAIE Conference 2027 - Landscapes of Hope: Children as Citizens.

At the heart of this conference is a bold premise: children as active citizens from birth, holders of rights, culture, values, and boundless potential.

In a world shaped by inequality and crisis, Landscapes of Hope invites educators, researchers, and communities to come together to consider how pedagogical approaches, deeply influenced by the values of Reggio Emilia, can create more just, democratic, and hopeful futures.

Together, we'll explore contexts that honour participation as a right, welcome difference as a catalyst for growth and transformation, and uphold the collective as a place for the co-construction of meaning - where children's perspectives are heard, their identities affirmed, and their rights upheld with integrity.

We can't wait to continue this important conversation with you.

More details coming soon. 💚

Curiosity, dialogue, and inspiration filled the room at The Culture of the Atelier workshop in Adelaide as educators explored a renewed and deepened understanding of the atelier.

Through history, theory, mini stories, and curated experiences, participants reflected on how the Reggio Emilia principles can come to life through materials, documentation, and environments. Together, we considered new possibilities for practice that honour and uphold the many intelligences of children.

Thank you, Adelaide, for embracing this new REAIE workshop with such warmth and enthusiasm. 🙏✨

CANBERRA NETWORK MEETING | JUNE 23RD 💚

Come along and experience one of our preschool spaces here at Blue Gum. Gaining an insight into our philosophy and community.

Our team will walk you through a journey we have been embarking on now for 2.5 years - Where Education and Health Collaborate. This Blue Gum initiative invites us to view participation afresh, where health professionals are part of the stakeholders in education communities. Not as external support but as integrated, inhouse members of community.

We have been working with a Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Play Therapist who spend 2 mornings a week as part of our community.

The richness of this participation; this intentional encounter with 'other', has both generated and nurtured the feelings and culture of solidarity, responsibility and inclusion. Children, educators, families and health professionals being in community, in relationship together, is what is needed in our current and enduring diagnosed focus world.

How do we approach the unpacking of children’s rights together and in partnerships with families, how do we support optimal development for all?

We look forward to sharing the evening together! Regsiter here: https://events.reggioaustralia.org.au/CanberraNetworkMeeting-23June #/

REAIE STATEMENT | WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 💚

Children are already living with the realities of a changing climate. They notice shifts, ask questions, and invite us to respond.

In Reggio Emilia–informed education, we take these invitations seriously. Rather than searching for simple answers, we cultivate ways of listening, noticing, and acting with care in relation with place, materials, and other living beings.

We honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as Custodians of Country, and the enduring knowledges that guide respectful, reciprocal relationships with land and water.

World Environment Day calls us to remain attentive and responsible. With children, we can create conditions for collective care, thoughtful action, and shared futures.

What becomes possible when we respond together?
