Symbols in the Sand.
I am often asked about using cards in sandtray therapy as a trainer. Firstly the cards contain symbols, so I see them as part of symbol work. However the cards alone are open to the therapists interpretation, therefore we need the sand world to broaden with perspective so that it is the client telling their story and giving their own meaning. Once again this is a powerful tool and used incorrectly can do harm.

Sandtray Hubs a space for professional therapists for peer supervision. 2 hrs of registered supervision hours. At Opengate Institute we run monthly free group supervision.

Do you have experience working with Indigenous people? Opengate Institute will be involved in talks with We Al-li provider of Culturally Informed Trauma Integrated Healing Approaches (CITIHA) for individuals, families, communities and organisations.
Dr Carlie Atkinson and David Ryan want to hear stories of the different ways of using the sand working in these areas. Many of you are experts in the field and I would welcome you to join this meeting to tell your story of how you integrated this method into practice for a socio-cultural model of health which skills and empowers workers for personal and community developmental approaches for individual and group wellbeing.

The meeting will take place on Monday 3rd August at a time to be decided. I will send more details to those interested.
