The Bindjareb Djilba Kaadadjan Bidi Yarning Circle has been announced as a Finalist in the National Indigenous Governance Awards - a powerful recognition of the strength, leadership, and vision grounded in culture and community. 🙌🏾

As part of this inspiring yarning circle, we celebrate alongside all those who have contributed to this journey. This achievement reflects the deep importance of cultural protocols, ensuring that our work remains guided by respect, knowledge, and connection to Country.

At the heart of this recognition is the way we walk together - intergenerationally, with Elders, young people, and community voices shaping decisions and sharing wisdom. It’s through this collective approach that we continue to build strong foundations for future generations.

This milestone builds on an incredible year, following recognition in both the 2026 Australian Water Association Award for Organisational Excellence and the 2026 AIATSIS Award for Excellence in Sustainability and Sustainable Futures. These acknowledgements highlight what is possible when communities come together with purpose, care, and shared responsibility.

Winners will be announced at the Indigenous Governance Awards 2026 Gala Dinner on Thursday 5 November 2026, in Tarntanya/Adelaide.

The Indigenous Governance Awards are held every two years and are proudly presented in partnership by Reconciliation Australia and the AIGI, The Australian Indigenous Governance Institute with support from the BHP Foundation.

🏆 NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR BINDJAREB BOODJA 🏆

Last night, the Bindjareb Djilba Kaadadjan Bidi Yarning Circle was recognised at the 2026 AIATSIS Summit Awards, receiving the Excellence in Sustainability and Sustainable Futures Award.

What started as a space for yarning, sharing knowledge and strengthening connections has grown into something truly special. This award recognises the power of bringing people together to create positive outcomes for both community and Country.

Thank you to our Elders, participants, partners and everyone who has supported this journey. Your knowledge, guidance and commitment are what make this work possible.

This recognition also reflects the strength of the partnership behind the Bindjareb Djilba Kaadadjan Bidi Yarning Circle. We are proud to share this award alongside Harvey aboriginal corporation, Waroona Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation , and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. This achievement is a testament to the collaboration, shared knowledge and collective commitment that continue to underpin this work, and it was a privilege to present together at the 2026 AIATSIS Summit.
