⭐Educator of the Month⭐

We would like to congratulate our Educators of the Month for July.

Jessica and Janelle were our Educators of the Month.

Jessica was awarded by our families for her relationships with the children as they feel safe through her kindness, trust and genuine care.

Janelle was awarded by leadership for her responsiveness to reflections and documentation. Janelle is consistently up to date with her mandatory compliance certificates.

Awarding Educators of the Month is a ritual across all Sagewood services. Not only does this tradition recognise and celebrate our educators for upholding our values of ‘Nurture, Love, Inspire’, it also provides positive feedback from fellow educators and families who have direct input in allocating these awards.

🌼Exploring Djilba Season Through Sensory Play🌼

As we move through Djilba season, the children have been exploring the beautiful changes this time of year brings through our tuff tray experience.

Using gloop to create a palette inspired by the Noongar seasons, children discovered the colours and elements that represent Djilba: from the cooler, mixed weather patterns to the bright yellow blooms and the first signs of early flowering plants appearing across the land.

Through sensory exploration, children are encouraged to connect with nature, observe seasonal changes and use their imagination as they investigate, create and engage with the world around them.

A hands-on experience that supports curiosity, language development, creativity and a deeper connection to Country.

🚲 Gross Motor Learning: Bike Play 🚲

Before our bikes become part of the children’s environment, we introduce them through our Montessori approach, allowing children the opportunity to explore, understand and respect the equipment first.

Together, we discover the different features of the bikes, discuss how we use them safely and explore why wearing a helmet is so important. Children practise putting their helmets on and taking them off independently, building confidence, responsibility and self-help skills.

Once we feel ready, we walk the bike track together, learning the pathways, boundaries and ways we can safely move through the space.

The beauty of this experience is that children are given the freedom to move at their own pace, make choices, develop their coordination and build confidence.

The freedom is in how fast they go, the limit is in where they ride.

A wonderful example of Montessori principles in action: independence, respect, movement and learning through experience.
