Celebrating one of the world’s finest today.

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Dolly…

You didn’t have to like country music to know of her impact. Her Imagination Library helped to give children from all walks of life the gift of quality literature.

She was an individual, confident to be who she wanted to be; she chose kindness, was passionate about her beliefs, knew how to laugh at herself and was brave enough to follow her dreams … advice we should all take on board and of course was one of Mrs Endacott’s all time hero’s.

In her honour, Mrs Endacott dusted off her own ‘Coat of many colours’ and shared Dolly’s life story with the students today… and her music will fill the playground today.

This Thursday we will be celebrating Book Week, with the annual dress up day.

Students are invited to come to school dressed as a favourite book character. If possible they are also asked to bring a copy of the book that the character features in.

We look forward to welcoming our playgroup friends in the celebrations.

🧲 Science Week 🧲

Science is a way of learning about the world … and that’s exactly what the students did at Lue today.

A huge thank you to the team at Lue Public School for coordinating a fabulous day of science activities during Science Week.

Students travelled to Lue and made the most of the opportunity to experiment and investigate a range of scientific phenomenon alongside their small school friends.

Thank you to the team from Kandos High School for running the groups.

💰Positive Behaviour for Learning💰

Hargraves Public School is a proud PBL school.

PBL is an evidence-based framework that brings together the whole-school community to develop a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. The framework supports social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for students.

In keeping with our ‘golden’ history, our PBL mascot is ‘Ed’ the gold miner.

The reward/acknowledgement systems in place include Hargraves pounds which are traded for gold pans. The highest reward is a ‘gold nugget’ achieved once a student has 5 Principal Awards.

This term, the visuals that remind students of our PBL principles have had an ‘AI’ upgrade and we think they look fabulous!

‘Ed’ is now a 21st century man😉

🐝 Regional Spelling Bee 🐝

A super effort from Jack and Ewan who both competed in the Regional Spelling Bee today.

Held via Zoom, both boys were in a final of 30 students from schools of varying sizes.

Our Jack was one of the last four students in the junior final. After successfully spelling ~ fair ~ watermelon ~ horizontal and temperature, it was the word ‘granule’ that tricked him up. As is often the case, he could easily have spelt the words in the ensuing rounds … in true Jack form he noted ‘the bee involves both skill and luck’. Great work, Jack!

The senior final also involved 30 students. Competing in his final primary school Spelling Bee, Ewan was determined to do his best …. And that’s exactly what he did. Calm and focused the whole time, Ewan’s word journey was an interesting one

before being announced the winner of his final 👏 👏 👏

A huge congratulations to Ewan on winning his final 👏 👏 👏

Ewan will now compete in the State final at Penrith’s Q Theatre in November.
What a superstar ⭐️
