Turns out reading a script naturally is MUCH harder than I imagined! 😆🎬

Behind the scenes in the Algarve - Portugal- filming new marketing content for Embavida . . . lots of laughs, plenty of retakes and definitely a few bloopers!

One of the best parts? Sharing this experience with like-minded people who’ve travelled here from Ibiza, the UK, New Zealand and across Australia.

We all have different stories, but one thing in common — we made a decision to explore a different way of working and create more freedom, flexibility and balance in our lives.

For me, making that decision has been one of the best things I’ve done. ❤️

Sometimes the best part of taking a different path is the people you meet along the way. ❤️

Six months ago, Ruth and I arrived independently in beautiful Phu Quoc, Vietnam, for Sovereignty Live . . . both solopreneurs building our own businesses within the same global education company.

We didn’t know each other. In fact, we only really connected on the final day.

Fast forward six months… and here we are in Portugal together. 🇵🇹

This week we’re creating professional headshots and marketing content for our individual businesses, before swapping work mode for adventure mode and spending the rest of the month travelling, exploring, laughing and making some pretty incredible memories together. ✈️🥂

One thing I’ve come to appreciate is how powerful it can be to surround yourself with people who share a similar outlook on life . . . people who value growth, independence, experiences and creating a life that feels right for them.

Business may have been what crossed our paths, but friendship is what came from it.

And for that, I’m incredibly grateful. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

Apparently personal growth in Portugal involves seeing life through pastéis de nata. 😂🇵🇹

But somewhere between exploring new places, meeting new people and eating far too many of these… I’ve been reminded why I wanted to create a different way of working in the first place.

Not to stop working.
Not to escape real life.

But to create more room in my life for experiences like this.

Building Embavida 🌿 is still a journey for me. I’m learning, stretching myself, meeting incredible people and doing things I probably wouldn’t have imagined a few years ago.

And if there’s one thing Portugal is reinforcing for me, it’s this…

I’d rather keep exploring what’s possible than wonder what might have been. ❤️

Although I may need to explore slightly fewer pastéis de nata. 😂

This is what creating a life around your work looks like for me. 🇵🇹✨

My first day and night experiencing beautiful Lisbon, and I’ve had one of those moments where you stop and think… how did I get here?

One of the things I’m most grateful for about building an online business isn’t simply the flexibility to work from different places. It’s the people it has introduced me to . . . like-minded people from different backgrounds and different parts of the world who share a desire to grow, experience more, and create life a little differently.

For a long time, I believed work had to fit into a fairly traditional box. You worked the hours, built your life around them and squeezed the things you loved into whatever time was left.

I don’t believe that anymore.

I’m still building. Still learning. Still challenging myself. But today I’m doing it from Portugal, surrounded by new people, new experiences and opportunities I never would have imagined for myself a few years ago.

And that feels pretty bloody special. 🌿

Sometimes changing your life doesn’t start with having all the answers.

It starts with being brave enough to explore what else might be possible.

Just a girl from the Central Coast, NSW… with a suitcase and the determination to build a career around the life I want to live. ✈️

I’d rather take a considered chance than look back wondering what might have been.

Technology has opened up more ways to build a working life around what matters to us. But when you have bills to pay and people depending on you, change can still feel out of reach.

I understand that feeling. I’m exploring what’s possible, one practical step at a time, with my responsibilities firmly in mind.

Now I’m heading to Portugal to meet people who’ve taken their own chances, learn from their experiences, and make a few memories along the way.

Excited? Very. 🇵🇹🤍

We tend to think courage means making some huge, life-changing decision. I’m much more interested in being curious, asking better questions and exploring possibilities before deciding what feels right. 🌿

Flexibility is one of the things I value most about building my own online business.

It doesn’t mean I can say yes to everything. Work, family and travel all require planning. But having more say in how I arrange my time gives me room to consider opportunities and decide what matters most in that season of life.

Even travel time can become useful time. At an airport or on a plane, I often listen to the personal-development courses offered by the global company I partner with. I’ve just started its 17-day Personal Prosperity System for the third time.

Returning to the same course has been interesting. The content hasn’t changed, but my perspective has. Different ideas stand out as my experiences and priorities evolve.

I enjoy work that encourages me to keep learning and growing. And I appreciate being able to make thoughtful choices about how that work fits alongside family and the experiences I want to have.

🏆 Grand Final winners! 💙💛🥂

But this post isn’t really about winning.

It’s about making room in life for the things that fill your cup.

For me, netball is one of those things. It’s movement, friendship, laughter, competition and switching off from everything else for a little while.

Life can get incredibly full . . . work, responsibilities, family, commitments and the never-ending list of things that need our attention.

But the things that bring us joy shouldn’t always be the first things we sacrifice when life gets busy.

Creating a balanced life isn’t about having less responsibility. It’s about intentionally creating space for the things and people that make you feel most like YOU.

Yesterday, mine looked like a netball court, a great bunch of women and a Grand Final win. 🏆💙💛
