Our Year 12 First Nations students have been in Perth for the annual Polly Farmer Follow the Dream expo this week. Students have been immersing themselves in exploring pathways at the expo with university and industry from across Australia to share opportunities for First Nations students. They were also able to visit Curtin University, other Polly Farmer programs in schools, learn about traditional Noongar country and even attend the Inter Milan V AC Milan soccer match at Optus stadium. Our annual senior ski trip has been taking place this week in Mount Buller. Students and staff have been blessed with some of the best ski conditions of the season making visibility difficult but ski conditions good. It’s been a terrific opportunity for students to experience beautiful Mount Buller and for some to learn to ski for the first time. Thanks to Mr Parker for leading the experience.

Congratulations to two of our Year 12 students, Jake and Riley, who recently had the opportunity to complete work experience with Victoria Police.

As part of their experience, they gained a unique behind-the-scenes insight into policing, from investigating a mock burglary and presenting solutions to real community issues, to touring the Victoria Police Academy and speaking with current recruits.

What an incredible opportunity to explore future career pathways while developing valuable skills and knowledge. Well done, Jake and Riley! 👏🚔

BLUE MONTH AT WESTERN HEIGHTS COLLEGE 💙

Throughout August, Western Heights College will be recognising Blue Month, an SRC initiative focused on raising awareness of teen mental health and encouraging our community to connect, speak up and support one another.

Each Friday, students and staff can get involved in a range of lunchtime activities, including:
📝 Spelling Bee
🎤 WHC’s Got Talent
♟️ Chess Competition
🏉 Staff v Students AFL
🎨 Art Club and spraypainting
🏐 Staff v Students Netball
🎧 DJ in the Yellow Building Art Room

We encourage all students and staff to get involved, support the activities and help build a school culture where everyone feels connected and supported.
