COLLEGE COMMUNITY | NEAR AND FAR

College Registrar and Director of Boarding have had a few busy days in Beijing, meeting with local families and participating in international student exhibitions.

Each year, the highlight of the overseas visits is spending time with parents, both of current students and alumni. Thank you, Mr Wang and Mrs Gao, for hosting Susie and Andrew for a cultural experience they will never forget!

Our Principal is flying over to meet Susie in Guangzhou later this week to represent the school, and they will also visit Hong Kong. International students at College receive a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment, while also adding much to the experience of local students.

WEEKEND ACTIVITY | PORT FAIRY

Boarding House weekend trips are a great way to build friendships and explore our local region.

On the weekend, students visited Port Fairy for fun in the sun and surfing lessons with , and there was lots of laughter.

Thank you to our Boarding House staff for organising a great day out to celebrate the first week of school.

BOARDING HOUSE | WELCOME AFTERNOON TEA 🏡✨

We had a heartwarming afternoon tea at the Boarding House today, as Principal Michael Horne, Director of Boarding Andrew Monk, and our excellent Boarding House staff and captains extended a warm welcome to our new and returning boarders.

As we prepare for a busy start to Term 1, we hope all our boarders have a restful night ahead.

Here's to the beginning of an exciting journey filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable memories. Welcome to the family, 2025 boarders!

2025 BOARDING CAPTAINS | FIRST OFFICIAL DUTY

On Wednesday, Henrietta and Henry joined over 160 boarders from Australia, New Zealand and China for the 2025 Boarder Leadership Conference, hosted by the Australian Boarding Schools Association.

The conference involved several keynote speakers, in a range of collaborative lecture style sessions which provided practical leadership skills and plans to be utilised in the boarding setting.

We look forward to sharing the positive impact that Henrietta and Henry will make in the boarding community.

INTRODUCING … 2025 BOARDING CAPTAINS

Congratulations to Henry and Henrietta on being announced as the 2025 Boarding Captains.

Boarding Captains have a large role leading the two houses – Macdonald and Speirs.

They run weekly meetings, organise events, support younger students, speak at formal dinners and lead by example.

Henrietta and Henry embody the school values of optimism, compassion, gratitude, respect and resilience and have an exciting year ahead!

As the Class of 2024 Boarders take their final walk down Myrniong Driveway, they're embraced by the farewells of fellow students and staff, embodying our enduring traditions.

VIC POLICE SAFE DRIVING WORKSHOP 🚘🚙

Last night, 60 boarders proactively listened and asked questions of the three Victorian Police officers than generously gave their time to talk about driving and road safety.

The key takeaway for the boarders is to remember the fatal five:
1. Impairment
2. Distraction
3. Speeding
4. Seat Belts
5. Fatigue

Living regionally, it is vital that our boarders are supported on their driving journey to be confident and competent on the roads.

VCE REVISION WEEK ... CRICKET BREAK 🏏

25 Year 12 students took up the opportunity to stay in the Boarding House for the second week of the holidays.

They attended the onsite VCE Revision lecturers during the day and motivated each other to focus and do extra study in the lead up to their final exams. It was a culture of hard work and support, with a little fun and R&R mixed in!

One of the nights, a BBQ and friendly cricket match as the sun went down on the Myrniong oval was a great way to wind down and enjoy time together.

DINNER IN YOUR PJs

Pyjama Night was the themed dinner last week, and the boarders loved it.

After all, what’s better than jumping into your PJs early!?!

AFTERNOON AT MIRRANATWA 🌳 🔥 🦋

On Sunday, the boarders spent the afternoon at Mirranatwa.

It was a gorgeous day to be out in nature and breathing in the fresh air. As well as the obligatory toasted marshmallows on the bonfire.

Several of the boarders had just finished the four packed performances of High School Musical, so the change of pace was perfect timing.

How lucky we are to have our Mirranatwa property so close!

YEAR 10 BOARDERS - CENTRAL AUSTRALIA EXPERIENCE

It has been wonderful hearing about the Central Australia Experience from our boarders. It took a couple of solid sleeps to get more than short sentences, but now the positive feedback is flowing in.

With no phones, it was good old sing-a-longs, uno, guess who, eye spy and engaged conversations as they travelled to some of Australia's most iconic landmarks.

What a great crew and what a fantastic experience!

BOUNCING OUT OF NATIONAL BOARDING WEEK

Last week, the boarders enjoyed a number of activities to celebrate National Boarding Week.

The Boarding Captains led a number of competitions, mindful activities were on offer, the boarders hosted staff for dinner and Mr Gong organised a traditional Chinese hot pot evening for international students.

The week concluded with a trip to Bounce in Geelong!

National Boarding Week also timed well with Mr Monk, Director of Boarding hitting the road and visiting College families in the Wimmera and Mildura.
