AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL LIBRARY DAY // Happy Australian School Library Day!

Today we celebrate the heart of our school, our library, and the amazing staff who make it such a welcoming place for everyone.

A special shout out to Ms Gustus and Mrs McGregor for encouraging a love of reading, curating wonderful collections, and creating a space where all student feels welcome. Our library is more than just a place to borrow books. It is a quiet space to read, relax, learn, and take a moment for yourself, a place where everyone belongs.

Today we recognise the value of a well-resourced school library and the dedication of qualified library staff who help our students discover, explore, and grow every day.

NETBALL VICTORIA CHAMPIONSHIPS // Despite a wet, cold and windy start, our four netball teams showed determination and resilience from the first whistle last Wednesday. As the weather cleared, the wins kept coming, with all teams delivering outstanding performances throughout the day.

From our Year 7/8, 9/10 teams through to our Year 11/12 teams, the girls displayed great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, securing an impressive string of victories against strong competition.

Congratulations to all players on their incredible effort and commitment. A big thank you also to our coaches and umpires in helping make the day such a success.

As leaders of the student body, Angelina and Kareem exemplify the Monivae leadership philosophy of compassion, competence, and character. Their integrity and willingness to serve others make them outstanding representatives of Monivae College, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have in the year ahead.

YEAR 7 LITURGY // Last week, our Year 7 students gathered for a beautiful and meaningful liturgy, taking time to reflect on their journey so far and celebrate the connections they have built throughout the year.

Through prayer, reflection, and shared experiences, students were encouraged to consider the values that guide their actions and contribute to our strong and supportive community. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a cohort, strengthen relationships, and embrace the spirit of belonging that is at the heart of our College.

MUSICAL MILESTONES // It was an enjoyable evening last Thursday celebrating the talent, dedication, and hard work of our incredible music students.

From solo performances and duos to larger group acts, the evening showcased the depth of talent, passion, and commitment within our music program.

Thank you to our performers, staff, and families for making this year’s Musical Milestones such a memorable night. We are so proud of everything our students achieved and loved seeing their confidence, musicianship, and growth shine on stage throughout the evening.

It was a fantastic celebration of the hard work and dedication our students have shown throughout the year.

BAS NETBALL // It was great to welcome Mercy Regional College to Monivae on Wednesday for our first BAS Netball home game. A fantastic crowd turned out to support our girls and create a wonderful atmosphere.

The match was played in excellent spirit, with both teams displaying outstanding sportsmanship and fast-paced netball throughout. It was a close contest from start to finish, with Monivae trailing by just one goal at the final break. Despite a determined effort in the last quarter, Mercy finished strongly to secure a six-goal win.

Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic game and a wonderful display of netball.

INDONESIAN INCURSION // Our Level 7 and 8 students had a wonderful opportunity last Friday to participate in a Traditional Indonesian Dance incursion presented by Ibu Maria from Cultural Infusion.

Students learned about the cultural significance and stories behind dances from Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi before trying some of the movements themselves. The enthusiasm shown by both students and staff made for an engaging and enjoyable experience.

Ibu Maria praised the school's Performing Arts Centre, appreciated the assistance of staff, and was delighted by the respect and energy displayed by all students. Terima kasih (thank you) for sharing this rich cultural experience with our school community.

GREATER WESTERN REGION SOCCER // A great day of football for our Year 8 GWR Soccer Team in Ballarat last Thursday.

The boys faced tough competition from Trinity College and Emmanuel College, giving their all in every match. While the results didn't fall our way, the team's spirit,
sportsmanship and support for one another were outstanding throughout the day.

A special shoutout to Year 11 students Zander and Lucas, for volunteering to coach and line umpire, and share their love of the game with our Junior boys.

Great effort and fantastic attitude was shown by every player.
