If you’re heading to Italy these holidays, or simply dreaming of it, enjoy a little morning in Italy courtesy of our students 💚🤍❤️

From the frutteria (fruit shop), latteria (dairy) and caffè (café) to the macelleria (butcher) and a cosy ristorante (restaurant), their handcrafted dioramas capture all the charm of an Italian streetscape.

Buon viaggio… even if it's just through your screen!

"The Ocean is Not a Bin!" 🐚🦀🐠

Last week, our youngest learners took their curiosity (and their big feelings about caring for the ocean) into the heart of Fremantle for a day of hands-on discovery.

To deepen their learning around their inquiry of “the ocean is not a bin,” students visited to explore real sea creatures up close, observing shells, textures, tiny movements and the incredible diversity of our local marine life.

They then headed to the beach for some thoughtful beach-combing, noticing what belongs on the sand and what doesn’t. These moments helped build their understanding of how we can protect and respect our coastline.

To end the day with a little magic, students enjoyed a vibrant performance of ‘Reach for the Sky’ at Theatre. A joyful celebration of creativity and storytelling.

A huge thank you to our educators and our confident, curious Bindi-Bindi students who made the day so rich in learning. 💙

Our pocket forest is officially planted! 🌱💚

With over 2,000 native seedlings donated by SERCUL, support from , and members of the community cheering us on, our Wild Space is now home to a thriving native pocket forest that will grow deep roots for decades to come.

This project has been driven by our Year 5/6 changemakers, whose passion for local biodiversity and the Cockburn Wildlife Corridor has inspired our whole community.

Families rolled up their sleeves, our P&F kept everyone fed, and together we created something truly special: a living legacy for future Kerry Street students.

Here’s to deep roots, new growth, and a community that cares for Country and connection. 🌿✨

World Kindness Day at Kerry Street 💜

Last Thursday our school burst into colour as students arrived in bright clothes, favourite outfits, dress-ups and even cosy pyjamas to mark World Kindness Day.

The day encouraged everyone to lean into what brings them joy, a simple reminder that kindness often begins with feeling safe, seen and comfortable in who we are.

Our incredible Wellbeing Leaders also organised a whole-school kindness activity in the Sensory Garden. Students were invited to tie a colourful cloth ribbon to a tree and make a quiet wish; for themselves, for others, or for the world around them. By the end of the day, the once-bare branches were alive with colour and hope.

What started as a weathered old tree has now become a vibrant display of wishes and kindness, transformed by the hands and hearts of our students.

Are you joining us for planting today? 🌱 💚

We’re creating our Pocket Forest this afternoon and would love for you to be part of it!

Drop in anytime between 3-6pm in the Wild Space!
The first 60 families will have the chance to mark their planting area with a special sign and their name.

Our P&F will also be running a sausage sizzle - $5 for a sausage and drink (cash preferred).

Everyone is welcome. Let’s grow something beautiful together.

Introducing the Hammock Hangout! 🌳

Four perfectly placed hammocks for slowing down, breathing deep and letting nature do its magic.

This beautiful addition to our Wild Space has fast become a favourite, offering students a sensory-rich way to regulate, relax and recharge.

The lines may be long, but our students have shown wonderful patience, and everyone agrees it’s worth the wait. If our Wellbeing Leaders weren’t so efficient at packing them away each afternoon, we’re certain the teachers would be unwinding there well into the evening!

A huge thank you to Nature Based Play for helping us bring this space to life 🌱💛
