Year 6 Parliament House Excursion
Our Year 6 students travelled to Adelaide to visit Parliament House and learn more about government, citizenship and democracy.
Students toured the House of Assembly and Legislative Council chambers, gaining a closer look at how South Australiaβs Parliament operates.
They also took part in a re-enactment of the passing of a bill, taking on parliamentary roles, debating issues and voting on proposed legislation.
The group met Alex Dighton, Member for Black, who spoke about his work as a State parliamentarian and answered studentsβ questions about the role of elected representatives.
Students also learned more about the history of Parliament House from the resident librarian.
Travelling by Adelaide Metro was another part of the experience, giving students the chance to practise independence and responsibility.
Thank you to Ms Gilbert, Ms Annette and Deb Black for supporting the excursion.

πβ¨ Book Week Dress-Up Day β¨π
Both students and staff are invited to join in the Book Week celebrations! π We encourage everyone to dress as their favourite book character using a costume they have made, already own, or can borrow from family or friends. π§ββοΈπΈπ¦Έπ
We understand that not everyone will have a costume available, and that's absolutely fine. π Book Week is all about celebrating the joy of reading, and we look forward to seeing the creativity and imagination on display through the many homemade costumes. ππ

We are incredibly grateful for everything they do β often quietly behind the scenes, but always making a BIG impact. π
If you see any of our SSO staff this week, please make sure you say a BIG thank you to them! ππ

Congratulations to Ava, Grace, Lilly, Charlotte, Kelsey, Aria, Zara, Zach and Mitchell, who represented Sheidow Park Primary School at the Year 6 Hiragana Competition.

βοΈ A Trip to Japan!
This term, Class 1/2 and our Mainstream Reception class enjoyed an exciting βtrip to Japanβ without even leaving school!
Students created their own passports before boarding a pretend plane bound for Tokyo. Along the way, they explored Japanese culture by visiting a school, seeing the iconic Torii gates, exploring the busy streets of Tokyo and experiencing a ride on the famous Shinkansen bullet train! π
It was a wonderful, hands-on opportunity for students to learn about Japan, its culture and traditions while having lots of fun along the way.
