🌿🐝 Growing a Love for Nature, One Small Moment at a Time 🐞🌱

Outdoor play is so much more than fresh air and sunshine. In a Montessori environment, nature becomes a place for children to observe, wonder, explore and care.

As children spend time outdoors, they learn to notice the tiny details—a bird building a nest, a turtle moving through the garden, a flower beginning to bloom. They discover that animals and plants are living beings worthy of kindness and respect. 🐦🌼🐢

Through simple, meaningful experiences such as watering plants, caring for our garden, gently observing animals and keeping our outdoor spaces clean, children begin to understand their role as stewards of the environment. 🌎💚

These everyday moments nurture compassion, responsibility, independence and a deep sense of belonging to the natural world.

When children learn to care for nature, they learn that they are part of something bigger than themselves. 🌿✨

The development of the mind is stimulated by the movement of the hands.

The child needs to manipulate objects to gain experience by touching and handling.

Our Burrow children are hard at work already during their Monday morning work cycle.

Sleeping outdoors 🙌😴🌻

Did you know sleeping outdoors is a very popular practice in Nordic countries and parts of Australia.

There are so many benefits:

🌱deeper, high quality sleep
🌱stronger immunity systems
🌱enhanced cognitive & physical development
🌱natural stress reduction
🌱sleep flexibility

At little nook we not only support this practice, we delight in the novelty of it.

We aren't a massive corporate chain run from a distant head office. As a local owner who works directly on the floor within our service, I see the magic firsthand every single day.

Our decisions aren't made to please shareholders; they are made to support the wonderful children, families, and educators who walk through our doors.

Many independent services like ours have spent years—sometimes generations—building deep, trusted relationships within our neighbourhoods.

We understand our community because we live and breathe it alongside you. We are a living, breathing part of this village.

🚀🚀🚀We’re officially a Flying Start partner!

Beginning in Term 3, we’re excited to be partnering with the South Australian Government to offering Flying Start 3-year-old preschool.

3-year-old preschool builds strong foundations for our little people to learn, grow and thrive through teacher-led, play-based learning, and extra support where it matters most.

We’re looking forward to delivering Flying Start 3-year-old preschool and the positive impact it can have for children, families and our community.
