With only a month or so before King of the Ranges Stockman's Challenge, we've been hard at work with Roconono across the board.
Obstacles - I think our current nemesis is the teeter totter which he can be a little unsure about and the gate - we struggle sometimes to stand still and take the key out. 🔑 So both things we are working on - really its just confidence building for him.... In himself and in me.
Packsaddling - he's been a whiz! He seems to really enjoy packing. He has been awesome at problem solving with the pack and working out easily where he needs to be. Schooner will be lead horse for the event and he's absolutely loving the gig too! ❤️
Still some polishing to do, but I'm so proud of this guy. One puzzle piece at a time. ❤️🧩

Standardbred Strategy Meeting 🤝
This Punter Rocks (Pete) and Convair Hustler (Hustler) have pal-ed up this week after Hustler arrived last week. Pete has been with us for 5 months already, but managed to delay the start of his retraining by headbutting a tree (I wish I was joking… horses, right? 🤦♀️).
Thankfully, he’s right as rain and finally ready to be put to work! Although, he might need a day at the spa first — he’s currently sporting a mammoth’s pyjamas and enjoys giving himself a daily mud wrap. 😂❤️

I had the pleasure of catching up with fellow Queensland Off The Track retrainer Sandi from Flynn Equine Solutions over the weekend (and tried to keep up with her on a XC course 😂).
One of the things I appreciate about the QOTT program is that it’s not just about the horses — it’s the connections it creates between people who are all working towards the same thing - providing care to these awesome horses and preparing them for the next chapter. We all have the same goal - happy, sound, educated horses with a life beyond the track. 🫶
Grateful for the people this program has brought into my life, and for the opportunity to learn, share ideas and cheer each other on along the way. ❤️
2nd arrival.... Welcome 'Colophon'!
Colophon is a 4yo gelding by Written Tycoon who had a short but fairly impressive career. 13 starts, bringing home over 160k in prize money.
Colin unfortunately sustained in injury in February and it was in his best interests to go on vacay and seek out an easier life. His owners and trainers took amazing care of him while he rehabbed and now he's ready to find his new path here with us through the Queensland Off The Track program. ❤️
Colin - also known as Cauliflower 😂 - is a smoocher and quite the mover / looker. Keen to work with this guy!
Welcome to the farm, "Convair Hustler"!
Hustler has arrived to go through the Queensland Off The Track program with us, and I'm a little obsessed. This guy is one cool cat. 🐈
Kiwi born in 2014, he has had quite the career with 234 starts to his name. More than a couple of handfuls of wins in there, and small bucket required for placings.
He's arrived to us and has been a lovely gentleman to handle, and settled into the paddock very quickly. This guy will be one to watch if you like your big standies! ❤️ He's big, he's pretty, he's smart... and he loves a good scratch. 🫶
