Following the devastating fire at our CIA Paulista family’s academy in Melbourne, we’re coming together to support Coach Carlos, Michelle and their team as they rebuild and get their community back on the mats.

Our coaching team including at least 5 Black Belts will be on deck throughout the morning… rolling, answering questions and sharing their knowledge across Gi, No-Gi, Wrestling, Boxing and Strength & Conditioning.

Come down, have a roll, learn something and enjoy a relaxed morning with our community while supporting a great cause.

Our thoughts are with our CIA Paulista family in Melbourne following the devastating fire at their academy.

Everyone at Terra Luta BJJ stands beside them and will support them however we can.

Head Coach Carlos is not only my coach and mentor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but also a close friend. Carlos, his wife Michelle, and their entire family have dedicated countless years to giving back to their community and changing the lives of so many people through their academy.

To see something like this happen to such good people is truly heartbreaking.

We’re thinking of the entire CIA Paulista family during this difficult time. Stay strong, we’re with you every step of the way.

A special night for the academy.

It was awesome to see so many of our team on the mats to celebrate 15 years of TLBJJ. Congratulations to everyone who earned new stripes and promotions through hard work, consistency and perseverance.

A special congratulations to our new coloured belts:

🔵 Blue Belts: Red, Brett, Nate & (our youngest ever blue belt) Jeremiah
🟣 Purple Belts: Lochie & Mack
🟤 Brown Belt: Natham Moran

And a huge congratulations to Campbell “Gumbo” Handy, Terra Luta BJJ’s newest black belt.

Cam has been with us since the early days of the academy and has played a massive role in building the culture we have today. He now leads our Friday Advanced No-Gi class and is an outstanding coach and teammate. He’s someone who gives far more to the academy than he ever asks in return.

It was a genuine honour to award Cam his black belt alongside my coach and friend, Master Carlos Vieira.

Cam becomes just the 6th person to earn a black belt at TLBJJ in our 15 years in the 4570. Along with his belt, he also received the TLBJJ Hatchet.. a symbol of efficiency, responsibility, and the commitment to protect those you care about.

Congratulations, Gumbo. Your black belt has been earned through years of loyalty, humility and relentless hard work. We’re proud to call you one of ours.

Gold for Jeremiah, all wins by submission!

Jerry is only 15 years old, but he represents exactly what we’re building at TLBJJ.

He came through our kids program, built strong fundamentals, discipline and great habits, and this year made the transition into our adult classes.
He now trains with the adults while still competing in his own age division, where he continues to achieve great results.
This gold medal wasn’t built overnight. It was earned through consistent effort.

Our vision is simple, to create a pathway where kids can start young, grow through every stage of the academy, transition into the adult program, and become humble, confident and resilient young men and women.

Jerry is proof that the pathway works.
…Although he’s still a work in progress. I’m still trying to improve his humility! 😂
