Shout out to our Maintenance Officer, Ralf!

You might’ve noticed our bike track has had a bit of a refresh recently. Along with the new shade shed, Ralf has installed new picnic tables and chairs, as well as a complete set of miniaturised road signs.

Ralf has been instrumental in bringing the whole area together, regularly going above and beyond to keep things looking great and working as they should. If there’s something Ralf can’t do, it’s probably not worth doing!

So, if you see him out and about, give him a wave and say thanks. He’s often, quite literally, out-standing in his field.

We are delighted to advise that visiting families can now enjoy, not only our fully fenced bike track, but permanent shade and picnic tables.

We are very grateful for funding from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for the improvements to our bike track.

While visiting our bike track is free, conditions do apply, and the track may be closed for private functions or training courses. We very much encourage you to check our website - https://roadcraft.org.au/kids-bike-track/ before packing the kids, bikes, and helmets in the car and heading to the track.

An extra 10km/hr can have consequences far greater than the number suggests.

Queensland already proved it works!

Queensland now has more than 20 years of real-world experience with 50 km/h limits on local streets. Independent evaluations by Monash University found the 2003 change was associated with a 23% reduction in casualty crashes and a 22% reduction in reported crashes over subsequent years.

The researchers concluded the benefits were largely due to reductions in excessive speeding, even though average travel times changed only modestly.

The current built-up area speed zone changes rolling out in Gympie are an extension of the same evidence-based approach to matching speed limits to the road environment.

This doesn't happen very often... our next P-Plate Defensive Driver Course (October 17-18) has just a few places remaining. Most of our courses book out well in advance, so if you've been thinking about enrolling your teen, now is the time!

Roadcraft is situated on a 40-hectare not-for-profit facility driven to reduce road-crash deaths and life-changing injuries on Australian roads through effective driver education and training. For over 46 years we’ve combined classroom education and practical training on life-like training circuits to equip road users with essential knowledge and techniques that make them safer behind the wheel.
