Grandparentsβ and Special Personsβ Day 2026
One of our favourite Gympie East traditions is just around the corner, and weβre excited to invite our families to join us for Grandparentsβ and Special Personsβ Day!
We know that special people come in many forms. For some students, that will be a grandparent, while for others it may be another treasured family member, family friend or important person in their life. Everyone is welcome to invite someone special to share the afternoon with them.
It will be a wonderful afternoon celebrating the people who play such an important part in the lives of our students, and, most importantly, making some new memories together.
Grandparents and special persons attending are asked to RSVP by Wednesday 2nd of September.
We canβt wait to welcome our special visitors to Gympie East for what is always a fantastic afternoon.

CHILDRENβS BOOK WEEK 2026 IS ALMOST HERE!
At Gympie East, we love reading, so itβs no surprise that we absolutely LOVE Book Week!
Next week, weβll be celebrating the magic of books, stories and imagination with some fantastic events across the week:
Monday - Gympie Library Visit
Weβll kick off the week with a special visit from the Gympie Library, sharing their love of books and reading with our students.
Thursday - Valanga Khoza Visit
We are very excited to welcome award-winning musician, storyteller, refugee and author Valanga Khoza to Gympie East. We canβt wait for our students to hear his stories and experience his incredible storytelling and music.
Friday - Book Week Parade!
One of our favourite events of the year! Students are invited to come dressed as a favourite book character or in a book-themed costume and join in the fun of our Book Week Parade.
From turning pages to dressing as the characters who live within them, itβs going to be a wonderful week celebrating the joy that books bring.
Bring on Book Week 2026. We canβt wait!

Gardening Groups - Growing Greatness!
The rain clouds finally cleared, the blue sky made a welcome appearance, and our Year 6 students got straight to work during todayβs Gardening Groups!
This week, they were giving back to our school by spreading fresh softfall around our playgrounds. There was plenty of shovelling, raking, wheelbarrow pushing and teamwork as they helped keep our play spaces looking great and safe for everyone.
Of course, even the hardest workers need a quick break⦠and when the opportunity for a fun photo presented itself, they certainly made the most of it!
Well done, Year 6! A great example of caring for our school while having a bit of fun along the way.

Gympie Primary Schools Maths Challenge
Yesterday, Gympie East proudly sent three teams to compete in the Gympie Primary Schools Maths Challenge. All of our students represented East valiantly, putting their problem-solving skills and mathematical minds to the test!
While we couldnβt quite replicate last yearβs 1st place finish, our best result this year was an admirable 4th place. A fantastic effort against some very clever mathematicians!
A big thank you to Gympie West State School for hosting and to Mr Cantle for organising the event and for providing his usual humour to keep everyone entertained throughout the morning! We know who is in the running to be the Logies host next year...
Well done to all of our East mathematicians. You made us proud!

β€οΈ WE DID IT, GYMPIE EAST! β€οΈ
We have officially surpassed our $3,000 Jump Rope for Heart fundraising goal, with 43 students raising an incredible $3,047!
I have been blown away by the enthusiasm and skill development shown by our Gympie East students. It is hard for me to walk outside my room without one, or many students stopping me to demonstrate a new trick they have learnt or show me how much they have improved! It has been wonderful to see so many students discover that skipping is a fun and exciting way to exercise.
This week, we have a new student leading our fundraising efforts. A huge congratulations to Sophie G from Prep, who has raised a massive $452.15!
Avery from 6C continues to lead the way in physical activity, recording more than 26 hours. Altogether, our students have recorded an outstanding 123 hours of physical activity. What an awesome effort!
There are still a few weeks remaining before we celebrate with our fun Jump Off afternoon. This special event will mark the success of our Jump Rope for Heart program and thank everyone who has fundraised, participated and supported such an important, lifesaving cause.
Keep jumping, Gympie East! π
