Carinya Christian School provides a Christ-centred, community-minded, discovery-driven education.

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀, 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 & 𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 📚

There’s been plenty of colour, creativity and organised chaos around Carinya Gunnedah this week!

Book Week brought some fantastic costumes to school, along with a special assembly shared with parents and families. It was great to see favourite books and characters come to life and to celebrate the stories that capture our imaginations.

The wet weather made for some creative changes of plan in Junior School, but there was still plenty happening indoors. Kindergarten and Year 4 enjoyed some shared library time, while Prep has been busy playing, creating and making the most of their days together.

Over in Middle School, Design & Technology students have been getting hands-on with etching artwork and clay, developing new skills and seeing their ideas begin to take shape.

Whether sharing books across year groups, creating something new or simply adapting when the weather changes the plan, these everyday moments are a lovely part of learning together at Carinya.

𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗧𝗮𝗱𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 & 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀

There’s been plenty happening around Carinya Gunnedah this week, with students creating, thinking, moving and learning alongside one another.

Prep has been particularly busy—building, painting, dancing and generally having a pretty great time while learning through it all! Kindergarten students have been putting their growing writing skills to work, creating information reports on kangaroos and frogs, while Year 1 has been busy exploring new ideas in Maths.

Maths has brought plenty of collaboration too. Stage 2 students put their skills to the test through games, and we loved seeing Year 4 students helping Year 3 understand their four times tables. Sometimes having another student explain it is exactly what makes things click!

Our Year 7 and 8 girls also attended a session with Melinda Tankard Reist, providing an opportunity to listen, think carefully and engage in important conversations together.

And our littlest members of the Carinya community joined us for another Wattle Buds morning, with plenty of activity, creativity and time spent together.

From explaining a tricky maths problem to creating, writing and learning alongside friends, we’re thankful for the everyday moments where students can grow in knowledge, encourage one another and better understand God’s world.

𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 & 𝗠𝗮𝗰 𝗠𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝘀

There’s been plenty of learning, creativity and activity across Carinya Gunnedah recently.

Junior School students have been busy exploring everything from how fish gills filter water in Year 1 Science to colour, texture, line and pattern in Kindergarten art. Year 4 had a fantastic day at the Zonal Todd Woodbridge Tennis Cup, with both Carinya teams reaching the semi-finals and Carinya 1 progressing through to the Regional Finals. Our Primary netballers showed great perseverance and teamwork too, finishing their final game with a very well-earned goal and plenty of encouragement for one another.

Middle School students have been investigating endothermic reactions in Science and exploring Elizabethan England in English, with one History lesson even heading out onto the oval for a change of scenery.

In Senior School, students continued getting hands-on with Science experiments, while Year 10 Food Technology created some impressive Gourmet Mac Muffins.

Across the school, Hiking Club, condensation experiments and lunchtime chess have kept students moving, thinking and spending time together. We’re still not entirely convinced there’s a strategy behind some of those chess games beyond clearing the board! 😂

We’re thankful for a school community where students are encouraged to learn faithfully, try new things, support one another and continue growing in their understanding of God’s world.
