Dear Holy Spirit Parish family,
Yesterday we farewelled Fr Troy.
To everyone who joined us, whether in person or online, thank you. Looking around the church, it was impossible not to be moved by the incredible number of people whose lives Fr Troy had touched.
But a day like yesterday doesn't simply happen.
It was made possible by the generosity and teamwork of our extraordinary community. It was a beautiful reminder that our Holy Spirit Parish is so much more than a church - we are a family. When one of our own needed us most, everyone stepped forward without hesitation.
To Surani, Carmel and Beth, thank you for creating such a beautiful liturgy in just five days. It was a remarkable achievement.
To Fiona, Matt, Nita, Sr Kim, Susan, Pradeep, Maureen, Brooke, Anthony, Joachim, Dilu, Jim, Catherine, Felicity, Bob, Grace, Michelle, Tony, Chris, Jovina, Mary, Mel, Ian, Glen and your wonderful teams of volunteers - thank you. Your countless hours of quietly working behind the scenes made everything run to plan.
To everyone who sang in the choir, played an instrument, moved chairs, prepared spaces, cleaned, packed away, welcomed guests, directed traffic in the cold and rain or simply asked, "What can I do to help?" - thank you too. There were so many acts of kindness that it's impossible to name everyone, but every one of you mattered.
The Memorial Mass was a testament to who Fr Troy was, but it was also a testament to who we are as a parish.
I have no doubt Fr Troy was smiling. Even in his final farewell, he did what he always did best, that is he brought us together.
If you were unable to attend you can watch the Mass online here:

We pray for Fr Lolesio that he has a safe return to the parish at the end of July. In the interim, please continue to welcome the visiting priests (most who are retired) celebrating Mass with us every weekend.
