Arrmunbu CFC Arrmunbu Story
The Arrmunbu Child and Family Centre was named after the land adjacent to its location. The water lily grows in the Arrmunbu swamp.

Arrmunbu Child and Family Centre provides a quality, nurturing, engaging, and culturally appropriate learning environment that gives greater opportunity for children to value education and become strong lifelong learners. Traditionally this land was used as a place for Kunwinjku children and families to gather to collect and eat bush tucker (such as water lilies) and to share traditional stories. It was a place to have fun and learn about culture in a safe environment. The Arrmunbu Child and Family Centre aims to honour and respect this. Water Lily Story
The water lily has been selected as an emblem and representation of the community governance structure for the Arrmunbu Child and Family Centre. Traditionally it is a form of bush tucker for the Kunwinjku people. The bulb and stem can be eaten and the seeds from the flower can be used for making damper. They provide sustenance and nourishment to people young and old. The water lily appears at the beginning of the wet season and signifies a period of growth and rejuvenation. They grow abundantly in the Arrmunbu swamp during this time. They can be viewed as a community – a network of flowers and lily pads that cover the entire surface of the swamp.
