Gulgong High School Gulgong High School is a small rural, comprehensive High School that has been successfully servicing the Gulgong community for many years.

The school offers a board curriculum catering for a wide range of student needs. The schools focus is 'Quality Teaching and Learning in a Safe, Caring Environment'. Students are drawn from the immediate rural and urban surroundings and from various walks of life. The school caters for individual differences by creating a wide choice of curriculum that is both academic and vocationally based. The s

chool offers a range of one year, two year and vertically-integrated curriculum structures in the junior school to allow a great deal of flexibility and choice that encourages engagement of students in learning. For a small school, Gulgong High School offers a particularly wide range of student electives in both the junior and senior school and enjoys small class sizes in all senior courses and many junior courses. All students are encouraged to strive to achieve at their optimal level and effective student welfare programs are at the forefront of supportive structures to this end. Gulgong High School has recently achieved outstanding success in a range of national and state wide sporting and academic competitions. Students at the school have been awarded several distinctions and high distinctions in national and international academic competitions with one student placed third in Australia in the National Economics and Business Studies Competition. Each year Gulgong High School has many students who represent Western Region and beyond in a range of team and individual sports. Gulgong High School provides an exceptional creative and performing arts curriculum and there is a large number of students who access this learning area. The hospitality curriculum is also a feature of the school and the students and staff work closely together to provide a wonderful service to our wider community and at the same time provide expanded learning opportunities for the students. There is a support unit class, a support teacher and a teacher's aide located at the school to cater for the needs of students with disabilities. The retention of students from the feeder schools and from year 10 into 11 is very high from 2015 to 2016 we have a 94%retention rate. This can be attributed to a strong history of high academic results achieved at the school, the stable and enthusiastic mix of young and experienced staff. The school has an active Parents and Citizens Association, School Council and School Canteen who provide wonderful support to the school. Parent interest in school activities is very high with community attendance at school functions a feature of the school. The school has just completed a new building program that provides the students with new and state of the art facilities. Gulgong High School now has four new classrooms, a Trade Training Centre including a metal and engineering workshop, wood technology workshop and a hospitality room featuring a commercial kitchen. There is also a new performance centre and a new support unit. These outstanding new facilities offer the students an amazing array of opportunities and complement the schools expanded curriculum perfectly. Gulgong High School is a proud provider of quality public education to the local community and will continue to do so for many years to come. Introducing Our 2027 School Presidents!
Congratulations to Chloe and Piper, who have been elected as our 2027 Gulgong High School Presidents!

Both Chloe and Piper spoke confidently at our school assembly, sharing with students and staff why they wanted to take on this important leadership role and represent our school community.

We are incredibly proud of them both for putting themselves forward and showing a genuine commitment to making a positive contribution to our school.

We look forward to seeing Chloe and Piper grow as leaders and represent Gulgong High School with pride.

RUOK day is this Thursday 10th September.

RUOK day is about learning how to check in with a friend, and what to do or say if the answer is "no im not ok".

Students and staff are encouraged to wear something yellow and to join in activities in the COLA during lunch. We will have a conversation bingo game with prizes as well as a lollie pop for everyone who participates.

Students from Year 7 and 8 spent the day on Wiradjuri Country at Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve learning about language, culture and local plant and animal species. They worked with educators from Red Hill Environmental Education Centre, Aunty Gail, Ms Taylor and the Storey Players. This week they are creating a film to celebrate Wiradjuri language and culture and educate others about the Regent Honeyeater.

💧 REGISTRATION FEES | WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

🔹 CLUB SUPPORTER – $40

A Club Supporter membership is a club requirement for all swimming families. At least one nominated parent or guardian for each full or club swimming family.

A Club Supporter membership is also a mandatory requirement from NSW Swimming for all committee members, technical officials and coaches.

It gives the nominated individual the opportunity to be an active member of our club, including:

🗳️ A voice in club proceedings
📋 A vote at the Annual General Meeting
🛡️ Insurance coverage for swim meets
🤝 The opportunity to be involved and help shape the future of our club

Your Club Supporter membership helps ensure our families have a voice and a say in the club they are part of.

🔹 CLUB ONLY SWIMMER – $111

This is a great option for swimmers who want to participate in club swimming and compete at Western Area level.

Club Only Swimmers can participate in:

🏊‍♀️ Gulgong Swimming Club nights and meets
🏊‍♂️ Western Area carnivals
🏅 Other eligible club and Area competitions

It’s a fantastic option for swimmers who want to race, improve their skills, chase personal bests and enjoy the social side of swimming, without competing at State or National level.

🔹 FULL SWIMMER – $130

For swimmers who want to take their swimming a step further!

Full Swimmer registration allows eligible swimmers to compete at:

🏊‍♀️ Club level
🏊‍♂️ Western Area carnivals
🏅 State competitions
🏆 National competitions

So whether your swimmer is happy racing their mates on a Tuesday night, wants to head along to Area carnivals, or has their sights set on State and National competition, there’s an option to suit!

💧 WHO CAN SWIM?

Swimmers from 4 years of age and up are welcome!

Our youngest swimmers can begin with 15m assisted swims, with a helper in the water and a flotation device.

And yes, we LOVE our adult swimmers too! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

💧 CLUB NIGHTS

📅 Every Tuesday
⏰ 6pm

Our improvement points system rewards swimmers for their own progress and personal bests, not just where they finish in a race.

It’s all about getting in, having a go and improving! 💪
