The Old Guildfordians Association

The Old Guildfordians Association The Old Guildfordians Association represents the former students of Guildford Grammar School, Perth, Western Australia.

The Old Guildfordians Association Incorporated is the alumni body of Guildford Grammar School, Perth, Western Australia. The Association was founded in 1905, nine years after the School was founded. The Association now has a membership of over 4000, living all around the world. The primary aim of the Old Guildfordians is to offer ex-students a means of maintaining a link with the School community

and to keep in contact with one another. The Association also works towards providing opportunities for members to enhance their careers by way of contact with other members in their industry or profession. Numerous functions, both social and sporting are scheduled in the Association’s annual calendar and these provide an ideal way of keeping in touch with friends at School. Regional dinners, the annual dinner and reunions are regular events, held throughout the State and sometimes overseas. The Old Guildfordians takes an active interest in the welfare of the School. It has two seats on the School Council and offers assistance to the School through a variety of means. The Association also offers two scholarships and student travel bursaries to assist students. A committee of management is elected annually at the AGM under an incorporated constitution, and they govern all the activities of the Association.

From the Swan to the desert, Old Guildfordian Claire (Harper, 2023) is making her mark in desert bike racing.

Claire has competed in some of Australia’s toughest desert races, with an impressive list of achievements since finishing at Guildford Grammar School:

• 5th in her division at the 2026 Finke Desert Race, having also completed the race in 2025
• Competing in the Kalgoorlie Desert Race in 2024 and again in 2026
• Competing in the GasDash Race in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026
• 3rd place at the 2025 Don River Dash in Bowen, Queensland

It is fantastic to see Claire continuing to challenge herself and take on some of the most demanding off-road races in the country.

And despite travelling far from the banks of the Swan, Claire still keeps a little piece of Guildford Grammar close. She wears her GGS necklace for good luck and takes her GGS sports bag along to her races.

Congratulations, Claire, on your incredible achievements. We are proud to see our Old Guildfordians continuing to pursue their passions and take on new challenges long after their time at GGS.

Our latest Everyday Excellence event was another fantastic evening of great conversation, plenty of laughs and some seriously inspiring stories from our panel.

A huge thank you to our wonderful panellists for sharing their experiences, insights and advice so generously — and to Shaw and Partners and Stuart Lamont for hosting us and making the evening such a success.

Everyday Excellence is quickly becoming a sought-after event in the Old Guildfordians calendar, and we’re enjoying continuing to tweak and shape the format to make sure it delivers what our community wants.

One of the biggest takeaways from the evening was the enthusiasm and positive feedback around the Old Guildfordians Mentoring Program, which we’re hoping to get up and running very soon. There’s clearly a real appetite within our community to connect, share knowledge and support the next generation of Old Guildfordians.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a great night. We’ll see you at the next one! 💙

We welcomed supporters of our 2026 Annual Appeal to Guildford Grammar for a special thank you event.

Guests joined our students and staff for a regular morning Chapel service, before gathering for morning tea, sharing in the prayers, hymns and traditions that continue to be part of life at Guildford Grammar.

Thank you to everyone who donated to this year’s Annual Appeal in support of our Scholarship and Chapel Funds. Your generosity will help provide opportunities for students and support the ongoing care of our Chapel for generations to come.

Everyday Excellence returns on Thursday 27 August with an honest conversation about building a meaningful life alongside a successful career.

Brian Adams (Henn’s 1982–1984) brings more than three decades of experience leading complex multinational organisations, including Caterpillar, BMW and Worley. Across his career, Brian has worked at the intersection of enterprise transformation, operational excellence and sustainable growth, helping organisations navigate complexity with clarity, discipline and strategic focus.

Currently CEO and President of Freo Group, Australia's largest crane, lifting and logistics company, Brian has lived and worked in seven countries and managed large global teams across multiple continents. This international experience has given him a deep understanding of leading diverse workforces, navigating different cultures and markets, and delivering results in complex and rapidly changing environments.

His leadership has centred on building strong teams, shaping culture and creating the conditions for sustained performance. Through roles that have required both commercial judgement and people focused leadership, Brian has seen first-hand that meaningful progress is rarely achieved through short-term wins alone, but through consistency, resilience and the ability to bring people with you.

At the heart of Brian's leadership philosophy is a belief that great leaders create clarity of purpose, foster trust through authenticity, and leave a lasting positive impact on the people, teams and communities they serve.

His experience offers a valuable perspective on the choices, relationships and values that shape not only successful careers, but meaningful lives.

Join us to hear from Brian on 27 August: https://oldguildfordians.com.au/?action=showEvent&eid=E164

Old Guildfordians were well and truly at the centre of our 130 Year Celebration.

One of the highlights of the evening was the Old Guildfordian Collective Band, formed especially for the celebration and bringing musicians from across generations together on stage.

Beneath the twinkling lights of the Chapel, the band created an incredible atmosphere and a very lively dancefloor as Old Guildfordians, families, staff and friends came together to reconnect and celebrate 130 years.

Thank you to everyone who returned to share the evening with us, and to the Parents and Friends Society, Uncommon Ground and the Old Guildfordians Association for their generous sponsorship of the celebration.

And to our Old Guildfordian Collective Band — what a way to celebrate!
