What a paws-itively busy day for Angus, Clive, Frankie, Daisy and Manu! 🐾🐶

The five dachshunds took over the TAFE NSW Griffith Animal Care TVET classroom today and, let’s just say, they were VERY serious about their studies... well, as serious as a bunch of sausage dogs can be! 😂

✅ Weigh-ins completed (with varying levels of cooperation)
✅ Simulated workplace activities conquered
✅ Heart rates checked
✅ Differences in age, personalities and markings identified
✅ Endless ball chasing
✅ Professional-level barking demonstrations
✅ Quality control testing of treats (their favourite subject!)

Each pup brought their own unique personality to class. From the enthusiastic ball chasers to the self-appointed classroom supervisors, they kept the students entertained while helping them develop valuable animal care skills.

We're not sure who learnt more today... the students or the dachshunds! 🤔🐕

A huge thank you to Angus, Clive, Frankie, Daisy and Manu for being such wonderful four-legged teachers. We think they've all earned an A+ and a few extra treats! 🦴❤️

🎉🍔 WELCOME TO SEMESTER 2... AND THE GREAT BURGER DEBATE OF 2026! 🌭 🎉

The Cultural Space was absolutely buzzing as students and staff gathered for our Welcome to Semester 2 Free Lunch on Tuesday 4th August.

The mission was simple: build the ultimate burger. The options were endless:
🍔 Homemade hamburger patties
🍗 Halal chicken
🥓 Bacon
🌭 Sausages
🧅 Onions
🧀 Cheese
🍅 Tomato
🥬 Lettuce
🫒 Beetroot
🍍 Pineapple (yes, pineapple belongs on burgers... let's not start that argument here 😜)

For those who weren't feeling adventurous enough to create a burger masterpiece, we had Australia's true culinary icon ready to go... a sausage in bread. No judgement. Sometimes the classics just hit differently. 🌭👌

There were towering burgers, overloaded burgers, slightly questionable burger combinations, and a few that probably needed a building permit before being eaten! 😂

A massive shout out to Sheridan Scali, who has been running around behind the scenes like a one-person event management team, making sure everything came together. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication in creating such a fantastic event. 👏⭐

Special thanks also to Mark and Dea, who worked their magic on the barbecue and somehow managed to keep up with the demand. Your tongs deserve a well-earned rest! 🔥🍔👨‍🍳

Most importantly, it was fantastic to see so many people connecting, laughing, catching up and starting the semester with full stomachs and good vibes.
Here's to Semester 2 being just as full as those burgers! 🎉🙌

💈 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | Meet Matthew Senes 💈

Currently studying a Certificate III in Barbering at TAFE NSW Griffith, Matt is bringing plenty of passion, humour and determination to the barbering industry.

We asked him a few quick-fire questions! 👇

🔥 What inspired you to become a barber?
"I have no hair haha! Nah, I've always wanted to and have a passion for it."
😂 We love the honesty, Matt!

✂️ Favourite part of the course?
"Learning the hairdressing side of barbering."

💡 What's been the biggest challenge?
"Nothing really, just trying new things and being scared of failing."

Luckily, Matt got a great support crew behind him - We have Simone, our wonderful teacher, by your side.

🏪 Where can you find Matt when he's not studying?
He's working at Uso & Co Barbershop servicing Leeton and Coleambally, building his skills and experience in the industry.

💰 If you won $1 million tomorrow, what would you do?
"Pay my house and car loan off."
No luxury yachts or private islands for Matt, just sensible decisions! 👏

We're proud to have students like Matt who aren't afraid to step outside their comfort zone, learn something new and have a laugh along the way.

🚨 Applications are now open for the 2026 Buster Ryan Memorial TAFE Scholarship! 🚨

Thanks to the partnership between Killoran Ag and the Rotary Club of Leeton, two scholarships valued at $2,500 each are available to eligible TAFE NSW students.

Established in memory of local community champion Buster Ryan, the scholarship recognises the importance of workplace safety and supports students pursuing vocational careers.

✅ Open to students enrolled in a Certificate III or higher at TAFE NSW
✅ Applicants must live, work or study in the Leeton Shire
✅ $2,500 available for each successful recipient to support their training and career pathway

📅 Applications close at 11.59 pm on Sunday 6 September 2026

Don't leave it until the last minute – you'll need a 200-word employer endorsement as part of your application.
