What a wonderful week!!

A Special Visit from Our Fire Fighters and Local Paramedics

This week we were incredibly fortunate to have not only one but two of our local emergency services visit our centre. These were truly memorable visits and the children were ecstatic.

From the moment they arrived in the morning, children listened and engaged.

Yesterday, we welcomed officers from the Moreton Prevention Unit to our centre for a special police incursion. The police officer spoke to the children about their important role in keeping our community safe. We learned about the police uniform and explored some of the equipment officers use. The children were excited to go outside and take a closer look at the police car. We watched the colourful lights flash and listened to the loud siren. It was an engaging experience that helped the children learn about police officers and feel more connected to their community. Our heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful parent Leonie Wood for making this unforgettable learning experience for the children possible.

Kahapon, malugod naming tinanggap sa aming silid-aralan ang mga pulis mula sa Moreton Prevention Unit para sa isang espesyal na pagbisita. 🌈🖌️ Creativity reaching new heights!
Our children enjoyed exploring art on an elevated surface, encouraging them to think differently about how they could create. Whether stretching, crouching, or reaching, each child found their own way to tackle the challenge.
Through this experience, children developed problem-solving skills, coordination, body awareness, and confidence. Rich conversations about colours, textures, and actions also helped build language skills, while taking turns encouraged positive social interactions.
We loved watching their determination, creativity, and excitement shine through! ⭐

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

A big congratulations to our amazing Chhaya - Yesterday marked her 5 year anniversary with Goodstart Griffin.
