“Do Not Underestimate Anyone”

In a world driven by speed, competition, and comparison, we often fall into the habit of judging people instantly. We judge by appearances, academic scores, financial position, social background, or even by a single mistake someone has made. Gurudev gently but firmly warns us against this tendency, because when we underestimate another human being, we fail to recognize the depth of life within them.

Every individual is a storehouse of possibilities. Strength is not always loud, and greatness is not always visible. Just as a river flows quietly yet shapes mountains over time, a person may move silently through life, carrying immense courage, wisdom, and resilience within.

Vedanta teaches us that the same divine Consciousness shines in all beings. When we underestimate someone, we are, in truth, underestimating that divine presence. Gurudev constantly reminded us that respect for humanity begins with respect for the individual.

This message is especially relevant for students and young minds. Many lose confidence because they have been labelled weak, slow, or incapable. Gurudev’s words reassure us that potential unfolds with time, effort, and right guidance. No one should ever be judged by their starting point in life.

For leaders, teachers, and parents, this teaching carries a deeper responsibility. A word of encouragement can awaken hidden brilliance, while careless criticism can silence it forever. History bears witness to countless souls who rose to greatness only because someone believed in them when the world did not.

Equally important is the warning against underestimating ourselves. Self-doubt is often the biggest obstacle on the path of growth. Gurudev inspired millions to discover their inner strength by reminding them of their true nature — fearless, capable, and divine.

When we learn to see potential instead of limitation, possibilities instead of weakness, and divinity instead of difference, society transforms. Respect creates harmony, humility nurtures wisdom, and faith ignites greatness.

Let us therefore take this message into our daily lives. Let us pause before judging, encourage instead of dismissing, and uplift instead of limiting. In doing so, we not only honour others, but we also honour the highest within ourselves.

May Gurudev’s vision guide our thoughts, our words, and our actions, and may we walk this path with humility, courage, and compassion.
