Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

🌈 Exploring Emotions!

During our small group experience, the children came together to explore feelings, emotions and facial expressions using emotion cards, pictures and visual prompts. 😊😢😡

The children shared what makes them feel happy, sad, angry, worried, excited, frustrated and calm, while learning how our faces, bodies and voices can show our emotions.

We also explored ways to manage big feelings, such as taking deep breaths 🌬️, finding a quiet space, talking to someone we trust and giving our bodies time to calm down.

💛 This experience supported children to build their emotional vocabulary, self awareness and confidence, while learning that all feelings are okay and everyone experiences emotions differently.

🌟🧸 Our Kinder children have been busy taking on special classroom monitor jobs! 🌈✨

From helping to tidy up, caring for our learning spaces and lending a helping hand to their friends and educators, the children have loved choosing their own responsibilities. 💛🙌

These special roles are helping to build confidence, independence and leadership skills while teaching the importance of working together and caring for our classroom community. 🌱⭐ We are so proud of our little leaders! 🥰👏
