Our Prep to Year 2 students were delighted to welcome acclaimed Australian author Fiona Harris as part of our Book Week celebrations.

Known for books including Super Moopers, Diary of a Netball Star, and The Strength of Hope, Fiona shared her inspiring journey from writing stories about schoolgirl detectives as a child to becoming a published author.

Students learned how growing up in a sporty family helped shape her creativity and heard about the wide range of books she has written, from fun stories about friendship and sport to powerful stories of resilience and hope.

Fiona encouraged our young learners to embrace their imaginations, reminding them that every great story begins with an idea.

πŸ“šβœ¨ Book Week Days 4 & 5 | Celebrating Stories, Creativity and Community βœ¨πŸ“š

What a wonderful way to conclude Book Week at Aitken College!

On Day 4, members of our Readers' Club gathered at lunchtime for donuts, games, and plenty of book-loving conversation. It was a fantastic opportunity for students and staff to connect through a shared passion for reading and celebrate the joy that great stories bring.

Day 5 was filled with colour, creativity, and imagination as Primary School students took part in our annual Book Week Character Parade, proudly dressing as their favourite literary characters. From beloved classics to modern favourites, students showcased their enthusiasm for the books that inspire them.

We also celebrated the achievements of our talented Cumberland students in Years 3-6, who were recognised with awards for their outstanding fiction and non-fiction writing. Their creativity, imagination, and dedication to storytelling were truly impressive.
