It's report writing time at Mary Queen of Heaven!

✨Another opportunity to shine the light on our learners ✨

Our Educators regularly assess children's knowledge and skills; both formally and informally.

An important aspect of reporting is moderation. What does that look like?

Educators gather across year levels, engaging in robust dialogue. They look at various sources of evidence, and align these against the Curriculum to make informed judgements. This rigorous ensures grading and feedback are fair, reliable, and consistent.

✨ Australia's Best Teacher ✨

At the heart of each of the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools are teachers who create vibrant centres of learning – nurturing their students to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

The Australia's Best Teachers campaign recognises exceptional educators in our school communities. An expert judging panel will shortlist nominations for recognition as one of Australia’s Top 50 Best Teachers, to be announced in The Herald-Sun and nationally in NewsCorp publications in July.

We believe the Educators at Mary Queen of Heaven bring something extraordinary to our community!

Our Principal, Renae, is featured in Annual Report for 2025!

Renae speaks of her belief in empowering all leaders; having sent the entire leadership team to experience the high quality professional learning offered at Flourishing Learners Conference in 2025.

An investment that enabled them to enact powerful change with clear, purposeful direction.

We are proud of Renae's leadership and commitment to continuous improvement for our school

💛🤍💙

🤝 Family Engagement at Mary Queen of Heaven 🤝

At MQH, we believe that parents are their child's first and most important Educators. Research tells us that children are more likely to succeed at school if there is a strong partnership between school and home.

As part of our commitment to Family Engagement, we host regular learning walks. Learning walks are an opportunity for families to see learning first-hand, learn about the 'why' and 'how' behind what we do at MQH, and explore strategies for supporting your child's learning.

Last week, we hosted a family learning walk with a focus on reading. Over 25 families attended and the feedback was incredibly positive - take a look!

Keep an eye out for future opportunities to engage in learning through our Family Engagement initiatives at Mary Queen of Heaven Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools

Today, we were proud to host the North Central Zone Deputy Principals Network Meeting at Mary Queen of Heaven.

The day provided an opportunity for leaders from across the system to connect, collaborate and build collective capacity in service of the children and communities we lead.

We were delighted to share our story, learning spaces and pedagogical approaches, showcasing the work of our dedicated staff and students. These opportunities to learn with and from one another strengthen leadership across our system and support our shared commitment to continuous improvement.

Thank you to all who joined us today. Together, we continue to grow, learn and lead for the benefit of every child. Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools

Reconciliation Week Art Installation ❤️💛🖤

As part of our commitment to reconciliation, our students have worked together to create a beautiful art installation representing the Aboriginal Flag.

This collaborative piece reflects our learning, respect and recognition of the rich histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Each child has contributed to the artwork, making it a powerful symbol of our shared journey towards reconciliation.

Reconciliation Week continues into next week, and we warmly invite families to view the installation at drop-off and pick-up times.

Together, we learn, reflect and walk forward in the spirit of reconciliation. Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools

Today we gathered as a school for a Prayer Liturgy where we acknowledged Reconciliation week and its significance. Renae and some of our 5-6 students recited the Aboriginal Our Father and as a school we shared in the following prayer:

Creator God of Holy Dreaming,

We come together in this Great Southern Land, acknowledging our shared history and the profound pain and ongoing struggles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are ALL IN.

We commit ourselves wholeheartedly, not for a moment, but for a lifetime. We move off the sidelines and into the arena of action.

We are ALL IN with Partnership.

Teach us to share justly the resources of this land, and to listen with humility to the stories, wisdom, and culture of the First Peoples, the first to receive your blessings here.

We are ALL IN for Justice.

We pray for a nation where truth is faced, wounds are healed, and inequalities are overcome. May we walk together as one, fostering a future built on respect, equality, and mutual responsibility.

We are ALL IN for Truth.

Empower us to move beyond words to meaningful change, acknowledging and addressing the injustices of the past and present.

Creator Spirit, guide us to be agents of change. May your love and grace inspire us to make this commitment, as we stand united, all of us, together.

We are ALL IN.

Amen

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Why do we acknowledge land?

An Acknowledgement of Country is a way of showing respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have looked after the land for over 60,000 years. It is like saying "thank you" for letting us learn, play, and live on precious Country that has taken care of many generations of indigenous people here in Australia.

This artwork was commissioned for Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School (MACS) by Peek Whurrong woman and artist, Bayley Mifsud of the Maar nation (Warrnambool).

The focal point of the artwork is a meeting place to represent Naarm (Melbourne), the home base of MACS’ operations. Throughout the artwork are many smaller meeting places to represent each of the schools that form the MACS’ network.
It was created to mark and honor MACS connectedness and shared goals towards Reconciliation

Today we mark and acknowledge National Sorry Day. A day of Healing, Education and Reconciliation. It is a day that as a Nation we acknowledge the hurt and harm caused by the stolen generation.

Our Grade 5-6 children gathered in a circle for an Acknowledgement of Country and to recite the Aboriginal Our Father, as a way of acknowledging the significance of the day and the role we play in bridging towards Reconciliation
