TODAY - St. Nicholas Day in Waldorf/Steiner education is a gentle, luminous celebration of kindness, inner virtue, and the quiet joy of giving. On December 6th, children polish their shoes or place their slippers by the door, and in the morning they discover simple treasures—nuts, oranges, handwritten notes, beeswax candles—symbolising warmth, generosity, and the light we cultivate within. In Waldorf tradition, St. Nicholas is not a figure of reward and punishment, but a wise, loving presence who sees the best in each child and encourages them to live from their highest qualities. It’s a day of reverence, wonder, and thoughtful deeds—a reminder that even the smallest acts of goodness help brighten the world.
