This Sunday, 31st August, Briar Hill Preschool will be firing up the BBQ at Eltham Bunnings for a sausage sizzle fundraiser! 🎉

Today is International Day of Play. ‘Let’s play – today and every day’ –, because every child has the right to rest, relax and play. Play is essential for all children's learning, development and wellbeing.

This important day was introduced in 2024 to raise the global profile of the power of play and advocates for children’s right to play, under Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

🏃‍♀️We are thrilled to share some exciting news! 🏃‍♀️

Our wonderful 4 year old teacher and centre director, Natasha, will be running the 2025 Sydney Marathon to raise vital funds for the charity Running for Premature Babies.

This charity was set up in 2007 by Sophie Smith, after she and her late husband lost their triplet sons following an extremely premature birth at 24 weeks. Since then the charity has been raising much needed funds for life saving neonatal equipment in hospitals around Australia, giving thousands of premature babies a better chance of survival. Natasha’s twins were born prematurely 18 years ago and she is so grateful for the care and equipment that was needed to help support them in their first few weeks of life.

💰Natasha has raised just over $900 for the charity, and would love if you can help her reach her goal! We invite our BHPS community to donate and show their support for this incredible cause.

BRIAR HILL OPEN DAY 2025!

Come and visit Briar Hill Preschool next Saturday 22nd of February from 9am-12pm.

You can meet our dedicated teachers, explore our large outdoor areas and enjoy our beautiful indoor area.

Committee of Management- parent volunteers will also be there to say hello and help you with any questions you may have.

It was smiles and excitement all round, when I visited Briar Hill Preschool to let them know that they are receiving a $448,000 grant from the Allan Labor Government’s Building Blocks Grants!

Briar Hill Preschool will be using the grant to renovate the school and refurbish the toilets, kitchen, office and storage space.

I can’t wait to go back and see the new upgrades!

This is one of 17 kinders locally that received funding to upgrade facilities or buy IT equipment.

Since 2020, Building Blocks has provided more than $200 million to plan, build new and improve early childhood services across the state. For more information please visit:

💰 Together we raised $660! With the funds raised from the Easter raffle, we are now only a few hundred dollars away from reaching our target of $1616 to purchase a good quality table, open play sink and stove for the cubby house.
