Today, our Koala Room children (18 months–2 years) enjoyed a collaborative car painting experience. The children explored rolling toy cars through paint and across paper, creating colourful wheel tracks while developing their creativity and curiosity.

This hands-on experience encouraged the children to manoeuvre the cars in different directions, strengthening their fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness. They also enjoyed working alongside their peers, sharing materials, taking turns, and engaging in meaningful interactions.

Through open-ended play, the children explored cause and effect, experimented with different movements, and expressed themselves through art in a fun and engaging way.

EYLF Learning Outcomes:
Outcome 1: Children develop a strong sense of identity as they confidently explored and made choices during the experience.
Outcome 3: Children demonstrated wellbeing by developing coordination, control, and confidence through active movement.
Outcome 4: Children became confident and involved learners as they investigated, experimented, and solved problems through play.
Outcome 5: Children were effective communicators as they shared ideas, used gestures and language, and interacted with educators and peers throughout the activity.
Koala room educators: Miss Jess and Miss Tracey

In our kindergarten environment a group of children were engaging with an educator in LEGO construction.
Children enthusiastically explore the LEGO construction activity, independently selecting bricks and working with peers to design and build imaginative structures. They are demonstrating persistence, problem-solving, turn taking and sharing ideas while creatively thinking as they experiment with different ways to connect pieces.
This experience promotes confidence, communication, early STEM concepts and positive peer relationships through meaningful play.
The QKLG learning and development areas are Identity, Connectedness, Active Learning and Communicating.
