Parents, carers and families play an important role in keeping children safe.

Knowing what to look for in a child safe organisation can help families make informed decisions about their children’s care, education, and recreational activities—and empower them to ask questions, recognise child safe practices, and raise concerns when something doesn’t feel right.

To support parents and carers, we’ve developed information to help them know what to look for in a child safe organisation and included the questions they can ask to better understand how children’s safety and wellbeing are being prioritised in the organisations they trust to look after their children.

At the Brisbane Baby Expo last weekend, we had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of carers, parents, parents-to-be and grandparents about Queensland’s Child Safe Organisations law, including the Child Safe Standards, and to help them understand how they can help keep their children safe.

Creating child safe organisations is a shared responsibility, and families are an important part of that conversation.
