We’re often asked what being not-for-profit really means for our families.
Simply put, it means that our purpose always comes before profit. Every dollar we make is reinvested back into our centres, to provide children with enriching and safe learning environments.
We understand how important it is for children to be in a place where they feel safe and settled. And when families need to make a change - planned or unexpected - we’re here to help make that transition easier.
We’re here to support families when it matters most – because every child deserves a Goodstart! ✨

Literacy-focused experiences in early childhood are essential because they lay the foundation for a child’s overall learning, communication, and cognitive development. Engaging young children in activities such as reading stories, singing songs, and exploring language through play helps build vocabulary, listening skills, and early comprehension. These experiences also support the development of imagination and critical thinking, while fostering a positive attitude toward learning. Early exposure to literacy not only prepares children for formal schooling but also strengthens their ability to express themselves and understand others.
At Goodstart Goulburn Teachers and Educators take care to set up beautiful and thoughful experiences that support childrens emerging literacy skills.

Outdoor sleep has become a positive and calming part of the Nursery 2 routine. The children have really enjoyed sleeping outside, and we have found that they are more settled and often sleep for longer periods in the fresh air. This environment provides a peaceful and relaxing space that supports rest and wellbeing. The children are also becoming more confident with their daily routines, assisting educators with packing away their beds after sleep time, which helps build independence and a sense of responsibility.
The Nursery 2 children have also been doing very well establishing relationships and routines within the room, particularly during mealtimes. The children have been helping to hand out drink bottles at lunch, and it is wonderful to see them recognising their peers and taking pride in giving the bottles to the correct friends. This provides the children with a sense of ownership and purpose within their room. After lunch, the children are encouraged to place their own drink bottles into the tray, bring their bowls over to be scraped into the containers, and wipe their faces and hands. The children have responded very positively to these routines, and it has helped slow down our mealtimes, making them more meaningful and purposeful experiences.

Sensory exploration plays an important role in learning and development. It supports individuals to make sense of the world around them through their senses, including touch, sight, sound, smell, taste, and movement. Exploring different textures, sounds, temperatures, and materials helps build strong brain connections that support overall development.
Sensory experiences support:
- Fine and gross motor skill development through hands-on exploration
- Language development as experiences are described and shared
- Self-regulation by helping individuals understand and respond to sensory input
- Cognitive development and problem-solving through experimentation and investigation
-Confidence and independence by allowing exploration at an individual pace
Sensory exploration is meaningful learning. Everyday experiences such as sand, water, music, movement, and creative or messy play provide rich opportunities for growth and support emotional, physical, and cognitive development in a natural and engaging
Every day, our educators and teachers make hundreds of small decisions that shape a child's confidence, joy and sense of belonging.
We measure impact through research and outcomes — but children experience it in the moments that matter most.
How safe they feel.
How curious they become.
How confident they grow.
This is Goodstart, through the eyes and voices of the children we're here for.
