~2H~
It has been a fun week in 2H. In literacy we have been looking at the silent ākā, ābā and āwā sounds as well as distinguishing which words with the /k/ sound are spelt with either ākā or ācā. We have improved a lot at memorising our tricky words and have enjoyed learning some new words this week. In writing we have been looking at narratives whilst reading āWhere the Wild Things areā. Students have been practising incorporating a range of verbs, adjectives and adverbs into their writing to describe their own āwild thingā that they created. We learnt about prepositions this week and have been practising incorporating them into a variety of sentences.
In mathematics we have been continuing with our daily number activities of counting on, addition and subtraction and groupings. We have also been looking at various 3D shapes and the volume of shapes. In history we have been talking about different ways people have communicated in the past and present. This week we looked at ancient Egypt and hieroglyphics. The students enjoyed writing their own name in hieroglyphics and coming up with a secret sentence for their friends to encrypt.
We have shown great sportsmanship and real work during our team sports focus in PE and have very much enjoyed the āspring likeā weather this week. To end off a positive week, it is national science week. We loved doing some different experiments in class such as āmagic milkā and making some oobleck. We are ready for a restful weekend before another successful week next week. Well done 2H!
