We are incredibly proud of our dance group tonight, who performed beautifully at the Southern Tablelands Dance Festival.
Our students showed confidence, teamwork and joy on stage, and represented Goulburn South Public School with such pride.
What a special night celebrating the talent, dedication and hard work of our students. Well done everyone. You were amazing!

It has been a busy week for our debating teams, with both teams competing in their first debates ever as part of the Premier’s Debating Challenge, and our Year 6 team, South Has Spoken, winning both of their rounds!
On Tuesday, our Year 4/5 team, the Mouthy Southies argued the negative against the Goulburn Public Aura Farmers with the topic, "That all homework and assignments should be groupwork." The Mouthy Southies came up with some great arguments, but in a close-run debate, they didn't quite pull ahead of the affirmative.
Our Year 6 team, South has Spoken, debated Goulburn Public JASNAP, arguing the affirmative for the topic That primary school students should have a four day school week. South has Spoken presented some wonderful arguments and successfully rebutted most of JASNAP's arguments and they were awarded the debate!
On Wednesday, South has Spoken took part in their second debate, this one against Crookwell Public School. South has Spoken debated the negative of the topic "That kids should have to earn each hour of recreational screen time by doing an hour of exercise." In a very close debate with a lot of strong arguments and rebuttal from both sides, South has Spoken managed to just pull ahead to win the debate!

3/4R and 3/4W had some exciting visitors to our classrooms yesterday- we welcomed Liam and Clover, two very cute and very cheeky dingo pups from Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue. Our classes have been studying the text Wandi, by Favel Parret, which is based on a true story, and follows the life of a dingo pup that is snatched from his family by an eagle and ends up lost.
The Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue spent a session with each of the classes teaching us about dingoes and about their place in Australian ecosystems. We role-played a food web and looked at what happens to the ecosystem when different life forms in the food web are taken out, particularly apex predators, like dingoes. We finished the sessions by getting to have a pat and some snuggles with Liam and Clover.
Dingoes are not protected and rescues can not be released back into the wild, so Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue, located near Tarago, look after up to 100 dingoes at their sanctuary, and are always in need of support to keep their service running. If you would like to donate to Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue, follow this link https://sfdr.org/donate/

Students in Stages 1,&3 have now all enjoyed a visit to the Rocky Hill War Memorial, where they learned more about Goulburn’s history and explored the museum displays. The excursion provided a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with our local community and heritage, while also enjoying the spectacular views across Goulburn from the lookout.

On Monday, selected students from Years 5 & 6 attended the PSSA Touch Football Knockout Gala Day.
Our girls team unfortunately lost our first knockout game 5-1 but then played two more games as part of the Gala Day, where we lost one and won another!
Our boys team won in the first knockout round 2-11, which advanced us to the next round. Unfortunately, we lost in the second round of the knockout.
All students proudly represented our school values, and displayed amazing sportsmanship towards each other and other teams.
